Cynthia Erivo has proven herself a rare gem and oh did she shine at the 2019 Tony Awards.
Renown for her breathtaking role as Celie in The Color Purple, the British bred talent took center-stage to deliver a rousing rendition of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ from ‘The Lion King.’
Erivo did so in honor of the Broadway legends who’ve passed away over the last year.
Watch her take vocal flight after the jump…

Just one more post. I do what I do because I love it, I never sing a song unless I know I can mean it. Unless I can tell the truth with it. This was THE VERY FIRST TIME I HAD PUT MY VOCAL CHORDS ON THIS SONG. @thelionking I hope i did you proud, @eltonjohn sir I hope I did you proud, @thetonyawards I hope I did you proud. @jasonmichaelwebb I hope i did you proud. Before the curtain went up my heart was beating through my chest, #Eric something tells me you may have had something to do with that. #tonys2019
