‘The Lion King’ charges into theaters on July 19th and is fast shaping to be one of the biggest movies in recent years.
Beyond being one of Disney‘s most successful franchises, the live-action incarnation of the flick is especially anticipated thanks to the starring roles of Beyonce and Donald Glover, who play Nala and Simba respectively.
With the release date fast approaching, Queen Bey has signalled her excitement by sharing a promo snap of her face to face with her counterpart. Check out the pic above.
The 23-time Grammy winner is confirmed to play an integral role in both the film and its music, with director Jon Favreau confirming she has recorded an original song too.
A refresher on his words below…
In an interview with Fandango, Favreau said of the new material the Bey created:
“It doesn’t replace anything. We have all the original songs, but there’s a song that [Beyonce] performed and wrote in the spirit of the production along with working with Lebo M., who’s part of it with Hans Zimmer. They were all collaborating with her and helping to bring this new piece of music into a film where there’s already a very established musical personality to the piece. So it was nice of them to have them working with her to allow the new song to feel organically a part of the new production.”
And while folks will have to wait a few weeks for the film, ‘The Lion King’ soundtrack arrives on July 11th. Translation? New Beyonce is around the corner!
