Did You Miss It? Ciara Shines With ‘Level Up,’ ‘1, 2 Step,’ & More at Macy’s ‘4th of July’ Special

Published: Saturday 6th Jul 2019 by Rashad

Ciara‘s no stranger to pulling double duty on television specials and this year’s ‘Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular’ was no different as the singer served as the extravaganza’s hostess and a performer.

The 33-year-old, still hot on the promo trail in support of her 7th studio album, ‘Beauty Marks,’ left her mark on the stage in grand fashion – rocking the audience with cuts from the opus (‘Level Up,’ ‘Thinking ‘Bout You’) and even strolled them down memory lane with hits from earlier in her career.

Jasmine shut up. Well guess what I’m here too…smh I’m convinced this is the same person making 2 profile names and arguing back and forth.

      • Jasmine July 7, 2019

  2. What would Whitney do. WWWD July 6, 2019

She look pretty. I would go see Ciara perform I think she would be able to perform better than Beyonce because she can Do backbends and splits

    • Clarkson July 6, 2019

Back bends and splits doesn’t define a good performer. You can’t do back bends and splits for two hours on stage.
Ciara is a weak vocalist and she’s always out of breath when she’s performing.

      • Celene July 6, 2019

You’re right..She should lip sync like that soul less robot you stan for.

    • Jasmine July 7, 2019

Where was the back bends and splits? I ain’t see that! Why are Ciara fans so delusional and fake? Y’all did NOT buy her album! The charts don’t lie! Y’all talk a lot of ish but don’t buy her album. What kind of bull sh|t is that? Buy the damn album if u a real fan!

She performing on tour at 5 places and tickets are only 25 to 45 bucks yet the seats are mostly unsold. Buy the damn concert ticket. Ciara fans are FAKE.

Im happy shes still booking gigs after selling 8k copies. She flops gracefully and she keeps it moving unlike miss petty minaj who just started a megatron challenge to unflop her single megatron which is predicted to drop 50 places on the chart this coming week.

    • Jasmine July 7, 2019

Lies she ain’t sell no 8K copies. More like 2K copies. She might end up being the first artist to ever be dropped from her own label.

      • MessyBoots July 7, 2019

“first artist to ever be dropped from her own label”

I love me some Cici but gotta admit that was hilarious. 🤣🤣🤣

      • Caleb July 7, 2019

One thing that should be commended about Ciara is that no matter how hard she flops she is never dropped and continues to be booked at events and award shows. I cannot think of any artist in history that has managed to have albums consistently sell less than 200,000 for like 10 years straight and continues getting deals. Many artists have been dropped from labels for selling less than 500,000 and Ciara hasn’t seen sales like that since 2007. She keeps her name out there and continues to make money moves while never having a hit album.

      • Jasmine July 7, 2019

@Caleb the record industry is about money. Artists like Ciara make record labels lose money. She has been dropped numerous times by different labels (Epic, Warner Bros, etc). Just because an artist is dropped quietly does not mean they were not dropped. The only label that stood by her for a long time was Jive but they enjoyed the monetary success of her first two albums’ profits. The problem with Ciara is that she is an older artist now and she does the kind of music she likes but is not interested in doing the music her target audience likes. That translates into flop after flop. She should study Bey. Bey listens to what her audience likes and makes music that will sell / cater to them.

      • Caleb July 7, 2019

@ Jasmine I hear you but the fact that record labels continue to sign her even after her diminishing returns is a surprise in itself.

      • MessyBoots July 7, 2019

        You both make excellent points.

A few years ago around the time Body Party was released a friend and I were planning to see Ciara live at the House of Blues in Chicago. He wondered how it was possible for Ciara to flop so many times yet still get re-signed and big name producers working on her projects. I suggested that she is likely well regarded in the music industry b/c you never hear anyone speak negatively about Cici. In addition to her goodwill she’s also transitioned into being known more for her personal relationships w/ famous men or friends.

So basically she is more of a Hollywood socialite masquerading as a singer/dancer nowadays.

      • Jasmine July 7, 2019

        @MessyBoots I agree 100 percent.

  4. Erica July 6, 2019

She’s not entertaining to me no more 😐 she’s like one trick pony at this point!! When is she’s going to reinvent herself? Her stage costumes are atrocious, her style was better back in the day, but now all this is a mess

    • Jasmine July 7, 2019

I watched both videos and liked her energy BUT I don’t like her ‘live’ voice. It is annoying. The costumes are always wack this era. Overall she needs to study Beyonce. Bey knows her audience and connects with that audience. In my opinion Ciara does Ciara but that does not work because she is disconnected with her target audience. She has to give the audience what they want to see.

    • Caleb July 7, 2019

When I watch Ciara there’s no denying she’s an amazing performer but I also see someone imitating Janet Jackson.

  5. AJ July 6, 2019

Throw that wig AWAY reused from the Second album

  6. Shayla Queen July 6, 2019

Why perform when you actually have no hits (at least for the last ten years.)

    • Celene July 6, 2019

Level up is platinum. She has had a platinum selling single every era. So stfu bih

      • MessyBoots July 7, 2019

I can remember at least Love S** and Magic (No 10 pop) and Body Party (No 22 pop, 6 R&B) doing well. There are a few lesser hits that some may recall like Ride or I’m Out.

      • Caleb July 7, 2019

Oh yes. A lot of people forget that her 2013 self-titled album was petty successful for her standards.

  7. AnonymousTruth July 7, 2019

1 2 step is one of my favourite songs front Ci , but she’s made it so stiff and boring now . And them pointless vocals that don’t even sound live . She over does the production on her stage tracks ,adding 350,000 sound effects like a damn amusement park and it’s not necessary . I just wish she’d strip it back a bit and stay authentic to the track , a dance break is fine , but all the swooshes and pows are tired .

  8. Gee July 7, 2019

Ciara’s hustle should be respected, however her fan base is no longer interested in what she is trying to sell. It is definitely time to reinvent herself to get people engaged and interested again.

  9. MessyBoots July 7, 2019

I have a undeniable soft spot for Cici. Her music has always been FUN and joyful to me. I also like her character/ persona. Very sweet girl. Maybe not very high chart status or sales but respectable.

    • Caleb July 7, 2019

She is an amazing dancer, one of the best and no one will ever be able to take that from her.

  10. Xoxo July 7, 2019

    Something was missing

  11. S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R.!. July 7, 2019

No. I just don’t see the energy. Alot of arm movements do not equal “killin’ it.”
