Monica deserves all her flowers while she’s here. A true R&B staple. Legendary woman. Congrats Mo. Bring on Chapter 38.

      Monica ain’t no f****** legend

      • Jay July 31, 2019

        Lol FACTS!

      • Kim,Keisha&Pam July 31, 2019

Monica has sold over 50 million records, number 1 singles, number 1 album, influential & has been consistently giving R&B for 24 years. & now, 20 plus years into her career she’s still getting accolades & number 1s within her genre. Sounds legendary to me!

      • Jasmine July 31, 2019

@Total The legendary is subjective. If she is a legend to you then great. I don’t think she is a legend. Also, Why are you lying? Monica ain’t sell 50 million albums or singles! Is Monica a legend? NO. I love Monica’s music but she is like a Karyn White to a Toni Braxton or a Pebbles to a Jody Watley AKA a great singer whose music was always overshadowed by bigger singers’ music and a great singer whose music lacks the number of hits it takes to be considered a legend. Monica never took chances that benefited her career! 24 years into her career and she has NEVER headlined a major tour, has not had a top 10 single in almost 20 years, etc. She has a good voice but that’s about it. That is not enough to be considered a legend. She needs to do something legendary to be considered a legend.

@Jasmine, Billboard has Mo at #30 on BILLBOARDS top 100 female artist. They also have her at #22 on BILLBOARDS top R&B artist, so this LEGEND who is still hitting #1 on the charts 24 yrs into her career, isn’t worried about your hating a** opinion. ✌?

      • d Richards July 31, 2019

Monica is legend compared to the likes of you- a broke hater who is a certified nobody.

It takes a lot to too the charts after 24 years in the game. Periodt. She’s blessed and winning. Get a life boo

      • Melissa July 31, 2019

Stay mad. Monica is a LEGEND, PERIOD. And 24 years in the game and still hitting #1.

      • Jasmine July 31, 2019

For those of you quick to assume I am a ‘hater’, ‘broke’, ‘mad’ go put your money up when Chapter 38! Don’t let that album be another flop like her past 3 or 4 releases! Put your money up! Support her! I support my favs by buying their music. I bought Monica’s albums in the past! Why aren’t y’all? If u ain’t putting money up don’t say sh.it to me because u are Fake ass whiny trolls! Mrs. Jasmine stated her opinion on Ms. Arnold and ain’t sh.it you can do about it. I love me some Monica but she ain’t a legend to me! If she is a legend to u then SUPPORT her like I do. Go buy her albums and buy her concert tickets! artists only flop when fake fans don’t support. Watching free YouTube performances is not the same as supporting!

      • Melissa July 31, 2019

Girl hush. Only Monica’s last 2 albums didn’t do well, because Still Standing was grammy nominated gold certified. That being said, Monica’s career and rank on Billboard and still landing #1’s 24 yrs in, debunks your hating ass opinion.

That being said. All you do is go up and down this blog with your miserable a** rhetoric, displaying to perfect strangers that you’re a pathetic bit#h.
Now go find something constructive to do with your life.

      • Lionel July 31, 2019

Monica is definitely a Legend! And her stellar music career and Billboard ranks says your hating ass opinion is null and void.

      • Jasmine July 31, 2019

Shut it you LYING piece sh.it ?! I love me some Monica and I do not have to validate your opinion of whether she is a legend to you. That word is subjective! You probably don’t even know what the word subjective means with your slow illiterate ugly self! I said she is not a legend to ME and I am entitled to my opinions! Here are some receipts of me writing Monica praises so shut your gutter mouth up:

  5. Paulo July 30, 2019

And they said R&B music was dead huh? The labels need to stop playing games cause there will always be interest on real singers! Congrats on steady and stealthily hitting another milestone, Mo ??

    • Jasmine July 31, 2019

There is interest but that interest is not translating into money for labels. You have Monica, Fantasia, Jon B, Donell Jones, SWV, Jagged Edge, etc all being loyal to R&B but why aren’t people buying their music?

      • Bam July 31, 2019

Cause they don’t know it’s being released. All those artist may get play on the “adult r&b” station but those stations aren’t the many. Hip hop, pop, & top 40 stations are the many and they don’t play those artist you listed not even if their songs are hot af. That is why the sales aren’t there.

      • Jasmine July 31, 2019

Surely with social media people are not living in the dark on album releases.

      • Bam August 2, 2019

        You’d be surprised…

  9. Melissa July 31, 2019

An R&B legend. Big congrats Mo!! ?

  10. Interac July 31, 2019

Monica just might be the blueprint for the more seasoned R&b acts now, who are still making real R&b music (brandy, jazmine, Fantasia, Ashanti, etc….)She’s independent now, and just look how she’s flourishing. Commitment came out around January hit the iTunes top then around that time, when the video came out, she was back In the top ten, and this last week she was back in the top ten again.

    • Cyle July 31, 2019

I so agree with this. A comment Whitney Houston made a long time ago (people laughed then). She stated she doesn’t like her albums peaking too fast so that can last across seasons. In this case Monica released “Commitment” in the winter time. The song done carried over the spring and summer and rose to the top of the charts. This goes to show you can be true to your craft and still do well. Keep in mind she was also on t.v, and has done plenty of shows across the United States. People can hate all they want, there are not too many artists from her era having the same success. Clive and Dallas knew exactly what they did when the found her. I am so excited for her.

      • Interac July 31, 2019

Exactly. She’s leading the pack when it comes to artists from her era. To put things into perspective, ‘code red’ sold more than ushers last album.

  11. ERIC July 31, 2019

I think her style looks better than it has in a long time. I just wish we could go back to when r&b music was celebrated like other genres with a lot of fanfare. I’m seeing more tours and concerts featuring r&b artists, so maybe that’s a good sign.

  12. Lionel July 31, 2019

Wow! Congratulations Mo ?! 24 years in the game and still slaying!

  13. Monique August 5, 2019

That song is fire! It is short, sweet and hits a bunch of points that all women can relate to! She is awesome, classy, down to earth; an entertainer that girls can look up to and imitate cause she’s so inspirational!
