  1. Perfection is so….Hmph ?? August 16, 2019

Omg this is so heartwarming to see such positive reinforcement given to someone trying to make a name for herself.

  2. meeee August 16, 2019

everybody has been waiting for the girl for this generation…even beyonce is ready to pass the torch… its her bitter stans who can’t take

    • Lana Bey Fan August 16, 2019

Did Beyoncé even make a comment? I wish she would

      • Maxx August 16, 2019

Exactly! If she is really ready to pass the torch, why not show support? You do for the likes of Adele & others…why not a real sista, doing big things, and definitely putting in the work.

    • Blanche neige August 17, 2019

Im from the hive and i approve this message

  3. Meme August 16, 2019

Lord please let this translate to success. We need her for the culture. We’ve literally never had a dark girl pop star that went mainstream. This one is it!

    • Clarkson August 16, 2019

Sorry to break it to u but this song wont be a hit. She brings nothing new to the table.
The video was just an advertisement. Oh look I can dance, oh look I’m s***, oh look I can do a split.
This doesn’t sell anymore in today’s music climate.

    • Fancy BISH August 16, 2019

This! ✅ And thank GOD ? they didn’t throw flour on her beautiful skin lol…and I love the dance move @3:42 in the video ? ? I’m confident she’ll serve more bops that are my taste in the future and I’ll stream this one at least once a day to support!

    • Bam August 16, 2019

Ummm Brandy. She was THE top dog of the 90s rnb teens getting play everywhere.

      • Fancy BISH August 16, 2019

@Bam, thank you for chiming in because we’re about to have a discussion that will spill tea all over the place ? ☕️ Brandy is contemporary R&B through and through and helped create the contemporary R&B space along with Boyz II Men, TLC, and so many other essential groups..these are SUPERSTARS who sold like Britney Spears without the cheese and TRL, no shade! They became stars before the late 90’s mega selling boy band/bubblegum/making dem bands era…I think Meme is talking about the TRL/106 era when the cheesy but good was mixed with the watered down but still good pop/R&B…Brandy was before the cheese ? and her albums rank as some of the very best in the contemporary R&B genre! But yes, Brandy was THAT GIRL and was selling like hot cakes..black artists have always been pop, but the pop charts tried to marginalize us when we certainly have ALWAYS contributed the MOST to what is considered POP…the tea hath been spilt and I’m not cleaning up the mess ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ☕️ ?

  4. Clarkson August 16, 2019

LOL. When she flops who u guys gonna blame?
    Her team?
    White people?
    Radio?
    Streaming?
    Russia? LOOL

She is basic as hell. We’ve seen a million and one black girls who can dance and are beautiful with poor vocals ,so what make normani special? Because she’s dark in complexion?
This song won’t be huge like Havana.

    • Jasmine August 16, 2019

      That’s that on that luv.

    • Tyty August 16, 2019

F*** off you trash all you spew is nothing but negativity. You’re the most hateful demon on this blog. Maybe just maybe out of all of the millions of black girls that have been denied a chance at superstardom she just might be the one who gets it. What’s wrong with that?? We all should just be stuck with beyonce and Rihanna for the next 10 years. You are literally gutter trash go mingle with rats where you belong.

      • Clocked In August 16, 2019

Hey I agree with you sentiments but i recently found out this is a very young person who doesn’t even live in the states. So where they are they don’t have much to do which is sad

    • Tyty August 16, 2019

      I know!! it’s also a racist troll.

    • Namo August 17, 2019

You’re damn right, I do think exactly the same. Only time will tell but I’m pretty sure that this is just a wave, she won’t last.

  5. Erica August 16, 2019

The song is hit y’all I remember back in the day when Beyonce first release Deja Vu & I hated but the more o heard it the more it grew on me kind of like this song,l. I think people was expecting something else from normani & didn’t give this song a chance but it’s really a single choice for her & very catchy!! I’m hoping for announcement to VMAs later I just feel that’s going happen

    • Clarkson August 16, 2019

Dejavu was not a hit. It performed below standard.

      • iamdiego August 18, 2019

dejavu was a hit it peak at #4 are u dumb?

    • Naime August 16, 2019

Deja Vu is an amazing song with slaying VOCALS, and a killer instrumental. This song is not.

      • SMH August 16, 2019

But it still underperformed even with all of her screetching.

  6. Jasmine August 16, 2019

Move over thievingyonce with ur 14k sales, a new queen for the lady chimps and gayz has arrived plus she is not trying to be white, back skin and black hair 4 the win hunn

  7. The Truth August 16, 2019

Normani has arrived. There is no doubt that this is a smash hit! Love me some Normani! Could you imagine what would happen if Beyoncé commended her video too? That would solidify Normani.

**Not that Normani needs a cosign from anyone. She IS a superstar

    • Clarkson August 16, 2019

Beyonce cant even get a hit herself, beyonce cant even get people to be interested in her new music, so what makes u think she can get people to be interested in another person’s music.

      • The Truth August 16, 2019

Did you read my comment you dumb b****? It said “what would happen if Beyoncé commended her video”….nowhere did I said Normani needs Beyoncé to get people interested in her video. As stated above, Normani needs nobody…Normani IS the superstar.

Now, don’t talk to me. Thanks.

  8. 2bad2bme August 16, 2019

Beyonce pass the torch sis! Black folks need to support this woman to keep our culture in the game. Taylor Swift just released a boring song the same time as Normani and has gained over 2 million listens. The mayonnaise is strong in the industry.

    • Angela D Wesley August 16, 2019

I was kinda mad about that! But who is everyone talking about and trending on Twitter last
night it was Normani and not that no talent Taylor Swift.

      • High Price August 16, 2019

Yeah, but you know how this generation operates now.. if the numbers don’t equate, then the hype doesn’t count.

  9. Lol August 16, 2019

I hope it does something because y’all give her entirely too much for it to flop. And if it does y’all will be pointing fingers and making excuses for her. I been over her.

  10. Meteorite August 16, 2019

Am I the only person who hears Beyoncé’s “Check On It?”

    • gina August 16, 2019

Yup, cuz i dont hear it.

    • Clocked In August 16, 2019

No it does sample the beat which is what she was going for hence her throwback to early 2000s

  11. K_man August 16, 2019

Ciara flopped 4 times so Normani can live!!

    • YAS BIH August 16, 2019

And got a platinum hit everytime all while being a boss B!@ch that kept few bags on top of being unbothered and will continue to make music without the haters approval #SHESET4LIFE

      • Maxx August 16, 2019

        Ditto!! Don’t come for CiCi!

      • YAS BIH August 17, 2019

        PERIOD

  12. Clarkson August 16, 2019

MNEK: guys dont let normani flop abeg.

Lool. A talented songwriter already knows there is a probability she will flop. I want her to win so bad but this song is not good at all. The video is even worse. Gyrating and overtly s*** isnt cool anymore. Even beyonce and Rihanna have started covering up.

Normani go back to the drawing board.create a lane and sound for ur self. U dont need to use beyonce’s blueprint to be successful

    • Nicky August 16, 2019

Lmaooooo multiple paragraphs in one post.

You are foaming at the mouth.

She got you riled up. She ate that video and you’re upset. Sorry.

      • Clarkson August 16, 2019

When she flops, you’re going to blame trump and white people and Russia. LOL

This song isnt going to be a hit like Havana
This video isnt going to win video of the year at the vma’s like Havana did

      • Nicky August 16, 2019

You sound like a loser that you are lmaooooooo!!

Did you take your meds today?

Normani has already won. Acclaimed, celebs going crazy. Legends going crazy.

  13. and why no one talk about her trying the Aaliyah look August 16, 2019

the industry trying to make her BIG but she is SO overrated do u really think u can compare her to the main pop girls of this era just because she can dance and you need a dark skin black pop star?
she is not a good writer she doesn’t have the voice she doesn’t have the charisma or the swag and she doesn’t bring something new to the table.

    Gaga
    Rihanna
    Adele
    Taylor
    Beyoncé
    Ariana

    • Danny Bey August 16, 2019

Imagine saying the industry is “trying to make her big” when she just is? She’s talented and hungry and the industry sees that and that’s whys she’s getting recognition. Why is it so hard to believe ppl congratulate talent from a dark skin brown girl? Y’all been praising Ciara, Tinashe and Rihanna for years for the doing the same thing if not less

      • High Price August 16, 2019

Well unfortunately my girl Tinashe was literally hot for a QUICK second so that’s kind of up for debate.

  14. Jamiz August 16, 2019

As someone that is musically inclined, Normani needs to attach herself directly to her culture and who she truly is. The dance talent is there. We see it loud and clear. The music is awful, it just is. Mani you don’t need to take off your clothes. If she keeps at this route, she will fade into obscurity. RCA is not going to keep throwing out multiple singles and collabs for her. She needs a hit bad! At least get a Sevyn Street and it wont stop hit! You all know when Ciara, Chris, B2K debuted had a hit straight out the gate! Thats how you know the act will stick around and have the it factor.

  15. JOHNVIDAL August 16, 2019

Love love love the dance routine. So creative. Great video. The song is too bland to be a HUGE hit, but it can be a moderate hit.

    • High Price August 16, 2019

I agree! A top 10 or even a yo-yoing top 20 would be cool on the billboard.

  16. Xtina4life August 16, 2019

So these celebrities have to give her promo so she doesn’t flop okay. Why can’t she do it herself if other black girls have succeeded with being a star. I’m sorry, but she doesn’t have what Camila cabell had and that’s to be a star.

  17. Danny Bey August 16, 2019

There hasn’t been this much excitement about a female artist’s video that I can remember since Beyoncé. This is it. This is this generation’s GIRL. We’ve been telling y’all to get ready. What a stan to stan a chocolate queen ???

    • Xtina4life August 16, 2019

Really are u serious? Um she can dance, but doesn’t have the it girl. She’s trying 2 hard. They are making her look like beyonce which is bad.

      • Danny Bey August 16, 2019

I said what I said and your comment won’t change my feelings or opinion

      • Danny Bey August 16, 2019

Cuz y’all aint have this energy when Chris came out sounding and dancing like a pre-puberty Usher. Or when Ciara came out giving ghetto country Aaliyah. Relax and let Normani do what she came to do

      • Maxx August 16, 2019

She has a different vibe than Beyoncé in my opinion, but she does need to be careful coming with a Beyoncé style..to me this video was all her with references to other people’s video only, but no one out dances or moves like her.

  18. Keith August 16, 2019

So glad to see the public peer support for Normani as she is talented. This visual is a cute throwback but the MUSIC leaves a lot to be desired. OF COURSE everyone is TALKING about this song because it was highly anticipated – that was to be expected. I saw someone in the comments compare it to Deja Vu – a far superior record in originality and style. Not even close. Normani has the potential to be the “heir apparent”, but she has GOT TO find a unique sound and style rooted in who SHE is. Otherwise, this “vanilla industry” will render her forgotten very quickly…Perhaps she really is nothing more than a vapid imitation, but if she isn’t then drop something a little more churban leaning and get her a new creative director.

    • Erica August 16, 2019

B**** I never compare them I compare how both made me feel at first I didn’t like either but the more I listen I recognize the hit that they are

  19. JustIgnoreMe August 16, 2019

I want Normani to succeed and its obvious other people do to. But I dont want to pretend she’s lighting my world on fire. I literally dont remember the song. I remember the ode to beyonce. I remember that sick backbend. I remember the fence twerk. The song I remember nothing. Normani is beautiful and can dance her ass off. Her music on the other hand outside of her features is very forget.

    • S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R.!. August 16, 2019

@Just… – Thank you! I was very underwhelmed with the music and she could have saved some that @ss shaking because it was a bit much for me.

    • #TheTruth August 16, 2019

I agree 100%. The visual hits hard because it’s rather raunchy. Not many people know how to be s*** yet classy and serve something tasteful.

Once you forget the video… there’s nothing left. The song is extremely forgettable.

Hopefully at some point she finds the right single to launch an album. Like Camilla who struggled a bit before having Havana out.

  20. S.U.P.E.R.S.T.A.R.!. August 16, 2019

Nice warm and fuzzy comments but you all are really blowing smoke up this kid’s @ss.

  21. #Formulation August 16, 2019

Unpopular opinion… but She just doesn’t have ‘it’. And i love normani and rooting for her.

    • Xtina4life August 16, 2019

Exactly I don’t see it in her. She was good in fifth harmony just like all the other girls camila Cavalli just had it in her for some reason you could see it. I’m not say camila is amazing, but something was just their and I’m not racist at all.

      • Nicky August 16, 2019

        Lmaooooooooooo

Clearly you don’t know what IT is.

      • Holliewuudd August 17, 2019

I have to say that from the very beginning on X factor, that bow camilla used to wear on her head made her stand out. Camilla’s voice isnt the best but the most recognizable and one that stands out, and let’s he honest, Hispanics really are loyal to their people so that’s helped her some. In Normani tho, some folks have to be groomed a little more and I feel like while she didnt originally possess the “it” factor, she ABSOLUTELY does now. This girl is a classically trained dancer, her voice has gotten better, and she has an amazing personality. Iys definitely her time. She and camilla wipp be the ones who standout in their solo careers from fifth harmony…and I love all the other girls.

    • Babygirloflife1 August 16, 2019

No i agree i can see and feel it too
When a star arrives u can feel it
Personally it will be a hood girl or some african or carribbean girl i don’t think african Americans can produce a believable dark skin pop queen
Their culture is full of self hate i cannot believe it

Coz Whitney and brandy were kind of white in there etiquette

Normani is stunning but its not connecting to me and it is forced they will ram it down our throats but the public wont bite

      Even lizzo is more believable

The whole video is very staged and unorganic

      Very prom queen

  22. Babygirloflife1 August 16, 2019

    Hmmm
We need a dark skin girl on top but not sure if it is normani

Im rooting for tiwa savage she is old asf but at least she is original

This girl is too unoriginal and the song isn’t strong she is stunnjng and can dance i feel awful writing this coz we definitely deserve a dark skin queen but she isnt the one

  23. Ropeburn August 16, 2019

The song is “meh” and the video is nothing special. But of course all her industry friends are gonna try to hype her up because #BlackGirlMagic or whatever. I just wish they’d find someone worthy of all the praise cause this heaux givin me average girl Kat Deluna T’s.

  24. Jason August 16, 2019

This song and video is so lackluster. Only reason people are going off is because the homage she paid to the pop stars who came before her. Norman’s is basic, I like her. But she is as basic as they come. The video treatment is exactly what Ariana did with thank u next. So this lacks originality.

  25. Namo August 17, 2019

The song is weak, the voice is weak, the dance moves are OK = next.

  26. Holliewuudd August 17, 2019

Normani ate that all the way up. This is the first time that I feel like everything just worked. Her voice sounds AMAZING, you looks georgeous (as always but moreso here) and that choreography was PURE FIRE. She really is a star. I hope she gets Grammys and recognition. Shes been grinding for forever. I’m so rooting for her.
