The Platinum plaques just keep piling up for former Fifth Harmony star Camila Cabello.
As we reported here, the songstress nabbed the second solo #1 hit of her career when her duet with rumored boyfriend, Shawn Mendes, climbed to the top of this week’s Hot 100. Ahead of giving the song its debut televised performance courtesy of a steamy set at this year’s MTV VMAs (click here to watch if you missed it), the duo learned the song had been certified Platinum by the RIAA.
Just days ahead of Cabello and Mendes storming the MTV stage and nabbing a couple of VMA moonmen, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) published a report indicating the twosome’s duet – ‘Señorita’ – had danced its way across the organization’s threshold for Platinum certification. This means it has shifted over 1 million copies via traditional sales or streaming equivalence.
The feat was accomplished just two months after the tune’s release.
