Taylor Swift To Re-Record Biggest Hits Following Scooter Braun Drama

Published: Wednesday 21st Aug 2019 by Sam

Taylor Swift made headlines last month when it emerged that her entire back catalogue had been purchased by Scooter Braun as part of the selling of her former label.

At the time, the Pop force said she was “sad” and “grossed out” by the move, especially as she was allegedly shut out from bidding herself.

The drama has left many wondering what Swift’s next course of action will be, given that it doesn’t look as though there’ll be any change in ownership – despite the public weigh-in.

Well, during promotion for new album ‘Lover’ (due August 23rd), the singer confirmed her plans. And it looks like she’ll be taking heed to calls to re-record her material.

Speaking in a soon-to-be-aired interview on CBS Sunday Morning says she discovered  the deal “when it was online” and that nobody in her inner circle knew of the Braun purchase.

So what’s her push-back plan?

At one point during the taping, host  Tracy Smith asked Swift whether she’ll be re-recording the past songs as a way to regain control of her master recordings.

“Might you do that?” Smith asked.

“Oh yeah,” Swift replied.

“That’s a plan?” Smith re-iterates.

“Yeah, absolutely,” Swift says affirmatively.

The move will see Swift follow in the footsteps of JoJo, who re-recorded her first and second albums in their entirety – after a dispute with her former label kept both projects off streaming services. In taking such action, Jo not only provided her fans access to the albums, she’s now in a position to license her versions for lucrative sync deals. TLC also took similar action with their greatest hits.

Suffice to say, then , it’s a wise move for Swift whose catalogue boasts many a smash.
