Cardi B Reflects On Her Impact / Says She Gave Female Rappers Hope

Published: Wednesday 23rd Oct 2019 by Sam

Cardi B has always been candid and, despite the length and breadth of her success, she isn’t letting fame change her game.

Moments ago on Twitter, the rapper reflected on the splash she made upon hitting the scene.

In a lengthy series of tweets, the chart-topper spotlighted how her success seemed to help the industry move away from its mono approach of having just a select set of women win and instead create space for many to make strides.

Her words below…

“I didn’t say I pave the way for female rappers but I deff gave the hood and women hope. N*kkas wasn’t collabing with females rappers. Labels where signing female rappers and putting them in a shelf and not focusing on them. Not giving them proper attention.

It seem like it was impossible for it to be more then one female rapper. These male rappers where not even takin Money from female rappers for a feature cause it seem far fetch for another woman to make it. I see so many male artists collabing wit females now even ..

Some that are not mainstream because I know they don’t want to miss out on the opportunity in case they make it cause trust and believe slot of N*kkas I asked for features from when they see me they tell me “I shoulda believe”Deum I should have did the feature .

And ya can deny it as much as ya want and say I’m crazy or stfuu but how many female rappers before me where getting chances or getting pushed ? They wasn’t believing and now they are!

And for the slow ones again NO ain’t made females want to rap cause b*tches been rapping b*tches been have talent but the music industry wasn’t believing and sh*tting on female rappers and that’s Big Bentley.”

When a critic hit her with a “Cardi on here lying again,” the star responded with:

“I’m Lying? So you tell me what rappers was giving features to female rappers? What label was pushing a female rapper? What tv music show was inviting female rappers .Only 2 female rappers for years and one ain’t last to long ……now you tell me! I wanna see something?”

The comments come as the latest batch of episodes of Cardi’s Netflix series ‘Rhythm + Flow’ arrived on the streaming service today.

Cardi doesn’t articulate herself well, but what she said wasn’t a lie. After BY popped off, the flood gates opened for female rappers to get major deals, promo and pushes. AND THIS COMMENT IS NOT TAKING ANYTHING AWAY FROM NICKI, SO GOODBYE BARBZ.

  2. only facts October 23, 2019

Cannot wait for one of the upcoming female rappers to tell Nicki what Nicki told Kim:

“”Every time you in the news, it’s ’cause you gettin’ at somebody! Where’s your music? Put your music out, and when I see your name on Billboard, that’s when I’ll respond to you. Other than that, goodbye.”

  3. Interac October 23, 2019

“Only two females for years and one ain’t last too long”—who is she referring to?

    • CC October 23, 2019

      I think maybe Iggy?

      • only facts October 23, 2019

But her and Iggy are cool though…I don’t think it’s about Iggz. I think this is definitely towards Nicki. A lot of people don’t consider Iggy a rapper…

      • Swirly October 23, 2019

She can’t be referring to Nicki because her commercial run lasted nearly a decade.

    • Meme October 23, 2019

      She’s def talking about Iggy.

    • Caleb October 24, 2019

      Iggy

  4. only facts October 23, 2019

Cardi is the Rihanna of hip-hop! A real ass woman, cranking out hits left and right, and slaying the fashion scene.

    • Justme October 23, 2019

????.. you must be drunk.. name cardi last hit.. cuz it’s been some months love

  5. only facts October 23, 2019

Regardless of who Cardi was talking about with her comment about one not lasting too long, the shade was exquisite.

    • ME YOU US October 24, 2019

Exquisitely ironic cause her clock ticking aswell..

  6. Barb-wire/ thee Stallion Hottie October 23, 2019

Oh I think she finally gets it now. She finally sees how much she’s flopping and how much the GP has quickly moved on from her stripper behind. Now that she can’t tie her name to Onika Tanya Maraj and create fake drama no one pays her any mind and she opts to rant online trying to convince people she’s still at the forefront when everyone knows she ain’t s*** and never would be s***.

    • only facts October 23, 2019

Girl, Cardi’s almost TWO year old album is STILL charting. Megan is the one that wont have longevity. By the time next summer comes around *POOF* Meg will be gone. No commercial or crossover appeal at all. Career about to get caught IN barb-wire

      • Dc October 23, 2019

Meg barely has mainstream success she will never in 1 million years see cardi success all megs recent collaborations have flopped. Her flow is tired also

    • Swirly October 23, 2019

Tacky Meg wishes she were on Cardi’s level though. Cardi came in and shook s*** up. Whether she’s “over” or not, she did what she had to do. Tell Meg to invest in some clothing that actually fits.

      • Glass house October 23, 2019

Y’all suck…because you hate Nicki y’all have to attack Meg? One of the realest and humble female rappers out ??? Dumb stans

    • High Price October 23, 2019

She’s FAR from flopping. Quit deflecting by making up lies!

  7. Barb-wire/ thee Stallion Hottie October 23, 2019

RIAA and Billboard are investigated for Payola and suddenly she’s flopping ? coincidence? I think the Fu¢kk not.

    • only facts October 23, 2019

How is Cardi flopping? Please Me and Press have been certified. Meg is the one that will be flopping a year from now. All she talks about is a** and cash. Nothing else. Every song sounds the same. Face looks like Doug. Strong knees though…she has that going for her.

      • Dc October 23, 2019

Exactly soo tired every song her ass her p**** etc she’s getting old already all her coloborations in last 3 months have flopped ?

    • Danny Bey October 23, 2019

Garbz really can’t discuss anybody flopping ever. In life. Like y’all look clownish and goofy talking about someone’s flops when ya fav…. nvm the writings been on the wall.

      *streams Megatron for support*

    • Hey you October 23, 2019

How old are you? You must be a child. Cardi is still killing the game without even trying. I won’t talk about Meg bad, because you’re obviously a little boy on here that is truly clueless of a true flop!

  8. High Price October 23, 2019

She isn’t lying. People do look at female rappers differently now after Cardi! And its DEFINITELY in a good way. The only other time we’ve truly seen this much visual and this type of female camaraderie in rap was during the beginning/prime era of lil Kim. After her, it was pretty much a drought. Now??? … … You can NOT deny Cardi b’s impact. And I hate to COMPARE BUT Cardi has even made Nicki step outside of her comfort zone. Nicki has EVER collaborated with this many females in over the decade she’s been in the game. So before people hate on her and of course discredit Cardi, you have GOTS to give it to her. Like she said, Females BEEN rapping, but who turned the light on?

    • Glass house October 23, 2019

Lies Foxy and Kim were at each other’s throats. And the way you blatantly disregard Nicki Minaj’s impact shows how biased and irrelevant you are ma’am.

      • High Price October 23, 2019

What I wrote had NOTHING to do with Nicki Minaj TALENT. Name me some peers that actually came out during Nicki Minaj’s in the beginning and during the prime of her decade?? HER PEERS! Not BEFORE HER TIME either. I’ll wait…. We talking about careers. Wtf are you talking about?

      • High Price October 23, 2019

And did she cosign them? I’ll wait…

  9. Bussyfellows October 23, 2019

Cardi b don’t have no impact. All she is, is a h** that suk dik to get hits. She’ll never be as legendary as Nicki. Nicki carried female hip hop, she need to bow down. Like Madea said “You the h**, you ain’t got no power”

  10. James masters October 23, 2019

I LOOOOOVE how yall always bring Nicki into
Some s*** in the comments. IF YALL LOVE CARDI KIM AND REMY SOOO DAMN MUCH THEN SUPPORT THEM!! Stop bringing up the queen everytime but yall can’t help it cause your really FANS WHO LOVE TO HATE HER!!

    • Jemini October 23, 2019

How is she the Queen tho? She hasn’t done what any of the real queens have done. Cardi smashed every song she has in Nicki’s archives when she won the Grammy, first of all. Second, Cardi’s entire album is certified. Nicki is still crying for a solo #1. Y’all h*** better stop hatin and respect the queen. Nicki was the queen when NO other females was rapping. Of course she can claim it then. But as soon as comp came, she bitched up. Shether knocked her to the ground and Bodak Yellow stepped on her neck

      • D October 23, 2019

        ?

  11. James masters October 23, 2019

We all know in REALITY IN REAL LIFE!! NOBODY TAKES CARDI B’s talent seriously!! She is always trying to get us to take her talent seriously because she knows shes an illegitimate artists she is a creation nothing about her is authentic or adding ANYTHING to the culture her whole career has been how can I try and top NICKI. Shes paved nothing!!

  12. King of Kingz October 23, 2019

Nah she just gave strippers, IG models, hood girls with a “personality” hope that they could make it. It’s the streaming era & social media that has made it easier for a lot of these new artists especially female rappers. Kash doll, Dej Loaf, Iggy & Azlelia Banks we’re getting features. The only girls she talking bout is the ones singed to QC & that’s cuz they see all they have to do is get em some ghost writers & drop a bag @ radio to get them heavy radio AirPlay. Megan been signed to a label, she came up organically & built her following with a reality show & started the hot girl summer wave. She’s starting to feel herself a lil too much like she gonna last ten years in the rap game ?

  13. Gee October 23, 2019

There is no denying Cardi’s impact in the past few years she was able to crossover from reality tv, to the mainstream world and make major strides in music, fashion, and eventually film. Not since Nicki and Kim before her, has a female hip hop artist been able to capture the world like Cardi has. She is hope for women in this new generation that you can claim victory over your circumstances, but you have to have to be driven, dedicated, and have will power.

    • Swirly October 23, 2019

      periodt.

  14. YAS BIH October 23, 2019

i agree in a way but it was Remy who kinda got it started with shether and Cardi took it from there.

  15. Just Sayin’ October 23, 2019

Bish please u aint gave female rappers hope. Bush u a damn industry plant backed up by a big label. There are other female rappers who are way more dope then u. Bush u are the image the mainstream trying to sell of what it takes to be a female rapper.

  16. October 23, 2019

    …..Lol

  17. MessyBoots October 23, 2019

Honestly I cannot relate to Cardi or most of her peers.

Although I find her vwry endearing, sincere, and passionate (all qualities I admire in anyone.. Male or Female) I also believe she is highly inarticulate, misguided, and extremely naive for her age.
She comes off like a child to me I guess.

My two cents, but anyway..I still prefer her authentic realness vs a fake Barbie anyday. ???

    • D October 23, 2019

      ?

  18. Beam Me Up Scotty October 23, 2019

She did not pave the way for anything. There is nothing inspirational about her story when you stop sugar coating it – she sucked d i c k to get where she’s at. She’s not a good a raper, she can’t write, she’s illiterate, she’s fake, she steals, she d r u g s men. Also, she got knocked up and we are glorifying it. Her story and a few of her songs have resonated with people, but let’s not fool ourselves, she’s no Nicki MInaj or Lil’Kim.

  19. Truth October 23, 2019

Giiiiiiiirtrrrrlll… if you don’t… somebody need to tell her she is famous for her personality not her lyrics…

  20. Adonis October 23, 2019

Well yeah Nicki Minaj kept the door firmly shut for female rappers for ten whole years by paying people off, then Cardi came and kicked that door and Nicki head off and actually supported female rappers so yeah she has a point!

    • High Price October 23, 2019

FAAAACTS All day! You can’t deny Nicki is Talented but at the same time SHE WAS the ONLY talent for a LONG TIME. smh Looks like it definitely came to bite her in the ass. Because she’s obviously pressed. SO pressed that she’s had to resort to settling down with an old high school fling, felony, flunky reject. But aye, at least she still has bars.

      • Adonis October 23, 2019

Dunno about talent And bars I just thought people liked her for her looks/body ?

      • High Price October 24, 2019

        Lmao!

  21. Danyboo October 23, 2019

She sound dumb… She sound a lot like how Donald Trump be taking credit for s*** Obama did. You’re the only other mainstream female rapper that has came along after Nicki, who has worked with every main stream male hip hop artist in the game. Humble yourself!

  22. Caleb October 24, 2019

“ .Only 2 female rappers for years and one ain’t last to long“

    I mean where’s the lie?

  23. Ajm265 October 24, 2019

Funny how no one seems to see that this young lady’s career was built off the same thing Iggy’s was and that is taking Nicki Minaj down. Now that nicki is in Lala land married Cardi’s star power is magically not the same ie she isn’t charting the same as she did during the beef publicity. It’s like everyone is replacing her and It’s now about who ever puts out the most ratchet twerk song.

  24. Lishonder October 25, 2019

You RIGHT Cardi, and believe or not you are making moves that other will be able to follow, but you got to have CLOUT!

  25. Mari October 26, 2019

Cardio is absolutely 100 about the rappers putting on females so why is you bugging?!; Ya’ll know her and few others out more female rappers on the brinks with the game and it’s all good!! nah mean some people forget or don’t know where they came from never forget cauz we here now no doubt without the disrespect we used to get we’ve shown we gots what it takes to make it and stay in the game
