Drake & Dad Exchange Words Over Absent Father Lyrics

Published: Tuesday 8th Oct 2019 by Sam

Drake‘s private life seldom hits the headlines, given the rapper’s professional wins serving as his lead narrative.

However, today saw the star spar somewhat with his own father.

Full story below…

During an interview on Nick Cannon‘s Power 106 radio show, Drizzy’s dad – Dennis Graham – expressed his displeasure at the representation as an absentee father in his son’s lyrics on songs such as ‘0 To 100’ and ‘Look What You’ve Done.’

He said:

“I had a conversation with Drake about that. I have always been with Drake. I talk to him if not every day, every other day. We really got into a deep conversation about that. I said, ‘Drake why are you saying all of this different stuff about me, man? This is not cool.’ And he goes ‘Dad, it sells records.’”

Clearly upset, Drake took to Instagram Stories, writing:

“Woke up today so hurt man. My father will say anything to anyone that’s willing to listen to him. It’s sad when family gets like this but what can we really do that’s the people we are stuck with…every bar I ever spit was the truth and the truth is hard for some people to accept.”

Yikes.

When did it become okay to say things about mother or father even if it is true? Remember “thou shall honor your mother and father?” Smh anyway if I were to go by Drake’s lyrics, he’s a thug that grew up in the hood so…. That’s that on that

The TRUTH shall set you free & it is best that he let that out if he chooses to do so. One of the reasons the black community has issues now is because of that really dumb & self-destructive mindset you have of not speaking against anyone. He is telling his truth & if that helps him to be mentally stable, then THAT is what his Father should be grateful & happy about. Who cares if you are embarrassed if that is what helps your son heal & have a healthy mentality? Get over yourself man.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with seeking healing from having an absent father. I don’t even know anyone who DOESN’T have some form of abandonment issues including myself. But speaking publicly about your issues with your father brings no good. As you can see above, the results are messy. Dissing daddy in a rap song is not therapy and the fact that you felt the need to reply to me, I can guess your age. Keep it

drake is not a part of the black community

Well to your dismay, quoting bible verses is THE FURTHEST correlation from today’s generation than its EVER BEEN I believe. So that’s irrelevant tbh. BUT your last point “if I were to go by Drake’s lyrics, he’s a thug that grew up in the hood so…. That’s that on that”

      .
I think you might be spot on with that! He’s IG post might of been just a little farfetched by stating that lol.

Tragic when one think it’s ok to air out family issues on social media but then again it’s become the norm.
