Justin Timberlake Reveals Collaborations With Lizzo, SZA, Meek Mill, & More

Published: Monday 14th Oct 2019 by Sam

After a rocky run with last year’s ‘Man Of The Woods,’ Justin Timberlake is looking ahead to the release of new music.

And he seems adamant about injecting an air of freshness into his creative mix.

As reported, JT shared footage of himself in the studio with Lizzo and now he’s opening up about what they’ve been cooking up.

Dive below for details…

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the former NSync star revealed he first met the ‘Truth Hurts’ hitmaker at the Songwriters Hall Of Fame (where he was given an honorary award) and made an internal memo about wanting to work with her:

“I think she thought I was lying, but we got in and we got a couple of ideas. I’m not going to tell you too much about what we did together in the studio. If she wants to tell you she can, but it’s flames. It is so good. I am so excited about it.”

As for his approach his upcoming project, he explained:

“I just called my publishers and I said, ‘You know, I just want to work with young, fresh people, and I want to collaborate more. I’ve been songwriting and producing for so long — I want to experience that energy, and I want to work with people that I think are truly amazing.

I worked with SZA the other day and just worked with Meek Mill. I’m having these experiences that are fueling me in such a different way and, again, I think it was really birthed out of feeling like, what can I do right now to just be a part of my community and integrate.”

We’ve long touted the necessity for JT to switch it up and it seems he finally got the memo. We’re also keen to see him team with new writers and producers. Because, much as we love us some Pharrell and Timbaland, very little of their work with Timberlake has resonated in recent years.

So, here’s to embracing alternate creative, genres, perspectives, and more.

I hate when people want to collaborate with artists after they blow up and become mainstream.

    • Clarkson October 14, 2019

Your faves beyonce does that alot

      Sean paul (2003)
      Shakira (2006)
      Lady gaga (2010)
      Kendrick Lamar
      Frank ocean
      The weeknd
      J balvin
      Ed Sheeran
      Donald Glover.

Your faves collaborated with them when their careers were HOT.
Beyonce used all of them to get a hit then dumped them quickly.

      • Clarkson October 14, 2019

        I forgot to include drake.

Damn beyonce has a song with drake that nobody remembers. Lol

      • You tried October 14, 2019

You certainly did. Worry about Camila.

      • 2bad2bme October 14, 2019

You know so much about everybody you hate on. Your agenda is to hate on black female artists and we are sick of you!

      • Lmfao_Hoe October 14, 2019

Tea is being spilled I see lets not forget she worked with Nicki TWICE to which I love both songs and rake twice too.

      • Haterz Gon‘ Hate October 14, 2019

But the difference is Beyoncé is STILL hot – she is not responsible for holding up the careers of those she collaborates with after the fact – you sound so dumb to even suggest this – esp when Gaga just had the biggest era, Ed been touring for two years and is a billionaire – Shakira is hot in South America and about to do super bowl and the list goes on. The only reason you made that lame chicken head statement is to justify Camicky’s existence – maybe she should collaborate with her gay boyfriend for the next 3 albums to maintain relevance and avoid ‘dumping’ his pretty bottom a**. FOH. ??‍♂️

  7. Queen?Bee❤️ October 14, 2019

    Has been flopper

  8. Theman October 14, 2019

He only really flopped by his standards. Underperformed might work a little better. He still shifted nearly 500k in pure sales. The guy is a superstar. Hate all you want to. But it is funny when people work with artists as soon as they blow up.

    • High Price October 14, 2019

Crazy how even over a year after the 20/20 experience, it was still celebrated then… . What was the name of his last album and where does it stand today? Is anyone still talking about it? Did his superbowl performance put the nail in the coffin? Plus the press about him over the years of his culture appropriation is bleeding heavy now! Crazy how people were just getting hip. Plus the majority of those sales were out of hype and name. We’ll see if he lives up to that “superstar” status this go round. And PLEASE miss us with the “music doesn’t sell anymore like it use to” b.s. Because he’s supposedly on Taylor Swift’s level and her reign hasn’t let up yet!

  9. Lmfao_Hoe October 14, 2019

Notice they’re all Black WHY NO Ed, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Shawn or hell even Ariana though she’ll easily sing him under the table.

    • High Price October 14, 2019

Interesting, because the talent yo uh just mention is definitely young and still fresh nonetheless. And they have hits too lol! So we definitely know what’s up.

  10. High Price October 14, 2019

    Keep it! ✌?

  11. King Khia October 14, 2019

I wonder how Black Twitter feels about SZA, Lizzo and Meek working with him. Will they get canceled?

  12. Adam October 14, 2019

    Cultural valture

  13. eric October 14, 2019

Of course the features are all black. Are the labels forcing these artists to work with him? I don’t see why else they would support his cultural appropriation. He tried it on his last album with that Pharrell collab and it went nowhere. Don’t support the foolishness.

  14. tyty October 15, 2019

When all else fails you run to streaming from the black culture… can always rely on wypipo to follow the same ole script.

    • tyty October 15, 2019

      *stealing

  15. Z October 15, 2019

Can he just fade away? He’s gotta be the most overrated pop star of his generation

  16. REAL NEVER FAKE October 17, 2019
