Indeed, beyond making waves for her relationship with Kenneth Petty, Onika sent relative shockwaves through the music sphere when she announced was “retiring.”
Now, she’s speaking up and out about all.

Speaking with The Shade Room with promoting her new Fendi collaboration, here’s what she said…
On Marriage:
“We’ll definitely do the paperwork portion of the marriage, but the actual wedding, I don’t know. You know when you’re a little girl and you want this big beautiful wedding, and I used to think I was one of those girls, I always wanted the fairytale. But then the things that used to matter to you don’t matter as much because I remember wanting those things with people, where real love wasn’t there. So now I feel like now that everything has finally lined up and matched up being that I’m madly in love with this man, he’s also my best friend, the things that used to matter to me before, don’t matter as much now. So yes, we’re going to have a big wedding eventually.”
On Her Boo, More Broadly:
“With him, we’re more best friends, first and foremost. If he asks something of me or vice versa. It’s not like a demand, it’s like I want to do it because I respect and love you so much, and I want to do it because of the way you respect me, that’s kind of how our relationship is.”
On Retiring:
“So, it was really about the fifth album. Where do I stand with it, I didn’t know my fans were going to act like that with the tweet, and it hurt my feelings. I felt like the way I did it was like insensitive to my fans, I didn’t know it was going to be that big of a deal. So that’s why I deleted it because it had like 600,000 likes and it was up for like less than an hour, and it took on a life of its own. But you know what, I’m a human being and sometimes in the middle of all this chaos, you’re a woman, you’re a human being, you have feelings, you may speak out of term. You may do things or say things where you’re like ‘what the hell was I talking about or thinking about,’ but I’m human.”
On Music:
“I just recently collaborated with the Da Baby, so you know he got to return that favor, and Gunna, I love Gunna. So, if there is an album there’s going to be way more than that if there is an album, but those are two new people that I haven’t had on an album yet who I would love to work with them. Now that I’ve gotten to know them, they are sweet and respectful and also just dope at their craft. It was also dope working with Megan as well, that’s just in terms of rap.”

Are you dumb?! Even if the recipient of an award is not present at the ceremony, they always have a pre-recorded video from the winner. They didn’t do that for Cardi in 2018. Cardi had to acknowledge her win on Instagram. Nicki tried her hardest to block Cardi from all of these shows. Admit it, Nicki tried to stop bags, and it worked up until Cardi came around.

I watched the E True Hollywood Story last night on E! and let’s just say I wish Nicki had a better attitude. Listening to all of those hip-hop legends talk about the struggle female rappers face, and how you can name all of them because it’s only been a handful that make it, shows that there needs to be unity among female MC’s. The narrative on THS was that the industry pitted Nicki against Cardi, but in actuality, Nicki did it herself. Nicki would truly be the Queen of Hip Hop if she embraced other female rappers and helped bring them on. But she’s jealous, insecure, and wants to be the only female rapper. If Nicki helped mold up and coming female rappers, the public would come around to her again, but for now, she’s just a bitter, middle-aged lady that’s mad at other females coming up.
Sad. I want Nicki, Cardi, Kim, Remy, Missy, Trina, Megan, Kash, and every other female rapper to have success. If there can be 900 male rappers on the charts, there’s no reason it can’t be 900 female rappers on the charts. Humble yourself Nicki.

All I’m saying is if Nicki was truly about female empowerment like she says, then throughout her 10 year reign, with all the power she had, why did she never say “hey, I really wish there were other female rappers. I want more of us and I want us to unite.” But nope, she wanted to be the only female rapper, and this is her karma.

Fast forward…Quavo asked Nicki to get on a song. He decided to throw Offset & Takeoff a bone. Then asked if Cardi could be included (since shes dating Offset). Nicki said sure. In fact, she throw a complimentary line towards Cardi — “If Cardi the QB then I’m Nick Lombardi”
Let’s break that down… If Cardi is the star player right now, then I am Nick Lombardi aka Vince Lombardi (the trophy teams win at the superbowl). Cardi and her label wanted Nicki to change her verse removing Cardi’s name…cause they felt it was a diss. Cardi gave interviews playing like she didnt know why she changed her verse. Video shoot — Nicki missed cause her hairstylist couldnt make it…but Cardi and her label fed the narrative that she didnt show up cause of bad blood with Cardi.
Fast forward…Cardi got mad thinking Nicki liked a comment about her daughter. It has since been discovered this was false and photoshopped. Cardi then tries to attack Nicki at Fashion Week… THIS is when Nicki began targeting her through Queen Radio and music.
Note: If everytime some says these b******, these h***, these n*****, that b****, etc. they are throwing shots..then every rapper is dissing every rapper at all times.
Why would she go against Meg when Meg has shown nothing but love? Never hopped on a hate train or use her name in a false narrative to get an interview? It just doesn’t make any sense when you think of “Love” or a traditional marriage. Most people know the PROCESS of a marriage being DOCUMENTED, so why is that even a conversation? Beyonce, Ciara or hell even Kim Kardashian would NEVER.

On another note, she just needs to do HER in terms of music. I honestly think her next album will do good sales wise. She has a strong oddly loyal fanbase. But I will say, she’s digging a grave for herself. Her last album was named Queen, yet she hasnt been moving like one since “Shether”. Gotta do better Nick! Smh.
