Summer Walker is slaying on a global scale with debut album ‘Over It,’ but she isn’t resting on her laurels.
The songbird flew into London this week for a headline show and stopped by BBC 1Xtra Live to highlight why her buzz has become so booming.
Backed by a full band, the Interscope star delivered a dynamic showing of ‘Playing Games.’

Vocally, Summer did her thing.
That said, her performance style is quite unique.
For, while many of her predecessors embrace the Mariah Carey approach (see: flailing hands), Ms. Walker sat folded arms for the length and breadth of her offering.
It’s definitely unique and no doubt a polarizer (we’ve seen some deem her “bored”), but it’s “her” and is undeniably working. So more power to this fascinating new talent.
