The Pussycat Dolls reunion is officially moving forward – but sadly without one of the group’s key members.

Moments ago, Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, and Carmit Bachar announced their regrouping for a major arena tour across the UK and Ireland.
Speaking on the long-rumored news, Scherzinger said:
“I love all my girls so much and cannot wait to show you what we’ve got in store for you. It’s been a long time coming but this feels like the perfect time to remind the world what it means to be a Pussycat Doll”.
One name missing, however, is Melody Thornton who will not be back for the reunion.
That development surprised many given that Thornton had been publicly receptive about a PCD return in recent months. So much so, that many of her quotes had been taken as actively teasing it. Yet, there are murmurs that prerequisites about better distribution of the group’s vocals may be the cause of her sitting this one out.
Keeping it coy, the Dolls’ creator Robin Antin said of Thornton’s decision to not come back:
“At this time, it wasn’t right [for Melody] but all five members insist in unison the door was and is always open for her.”
She went to add:
“I created The Pussycat Dolls back in 1994 and never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would become one of the most iconic girl groups of our time. I’ve been working on making this reunion happen now for years, so I am very excited that the stars have aligned for THE PCD REUNION! It’s with gratitude to our fans and during this amazing time of female empowerment, to be able to announce the launch of our PCD reunion, celebrating ALL GENDERS, & the brilliant success and talent of the girls that helped influence a movement that was long overdue”.

This is so rude. I live for her adlibs. She literally WAS the background vocals and I was looking forward to a few songs like Space, which is sublime.
Actually, Melody was ever present on ad-libs but if you really listen to PCD background vocals you will hear that Nicole’s vocal is predominantly layered and blended across multiple keys like cocoa butter and is the foundation of most PCD songs.

It is unclear how much Melody actually sang on PCD records, as the British singer V V Brown is now claiming she did the backing vocals on their first album. However, I’m pretty sure it is Melody on buttons
Nobody with any dignity would accept being a glorified background dancer who sings a bit reunion or not.. nobody wants to see Nicole push herself in from and the others just linger in the background. Melody ain’t stupid if you’re going to reunite then there has to be a better deal in place for the other otherwise the old resentment and arguments flare up look at b2k for example. The only one benefitting from this is Nicole as she wishes to recapture the music stardom she never got solo and the creator. Good for you melody.

Let’s be honest, Melody was not a key member. None of the members were key beyond Nicole. No shade, but the tea is that Nicole sang 90% of the vocals whatever the reason.
Melody won’t be missed. She says herself she was the weakest dancer and her vocals are wafer thing.

The other girls… I bet it’s good money for them because they were not doing much, maybe they were touring as dancers for other artists and still performing to a certain extent and making a living out their passion ?

Not sure this is what people want to see since solo Nicole is nowhere on the charts.
If the new material doesn’t become successful, they won’t be able to rely forever on their old catalogue.
Some people really over here acting like Molody was out-of-this-world amazing. Did I enjoy her in the group? Yes. Will PCD survive without her? Yes. IMO the group should have been called “Nicole Scherzinger and The Pussycat Dolls” from the jump. That would have better represented what the people were actually getting. Instead they presented as if they were a real girl group which they were not. Y’all can hate on Nicole all day long but she is The Pussycat Dolls. If you enjoyed a PCD song or album you like Nicole. She sang almost all of it with a sprinkle of Meoldy and a dash of Carmit (on the first album). If y’all stan Melody so hard why isn’t anyone checking for her solo material. At least Nicole had a few minor solo hits and managed to crank out 2 solid solo albums.
i dont get your point. the same reason nobody is checking for solo material from nicole is why they are not checking for melody. they want to see them in a group. even though nicole sang all those songs for pcd, her music was nothing like theirs. you said in your opnion they should have been called the pcd ft nicole scheriztshishu but they tried that and it was one of the reasons the group didnt work out.

No, it should be Nicoke Scherzinger AND the Pussycat Dolls. Kind of how the Supremes were re-named Diana Ross & the Supremes. Not “featuring” I remember that Melody incident you’re talking about. I wasn’t a fan of the featuring. That was unnecessary when she was already the vocalist. That’s like when these singers have songs featuring themselves (i.e., Ciara, Brandy) …completely unnecessary. But my thought would be Nicole Scherzinger (the face, the voice, the headliner) and The Pussycat Dolls (the other girls who support and sporadically add vocals).

I never comment on any of these but I’ll personally say that she only not in the group because symmetrically its makes more since for a five piece girl group apposed to a six piece. Nicole is always gonna be the center but look back at who ALWAYS sang 2nd lead 2nd verse…it was mel. And she’s there fsfs. So choreo will be easier, transitions will be easier..itll all be simpler with a main lead a backup lead and 3 other girls.
Reunions without all the originals always fall flat hence ( en Vogue and spice girls). People like to see the originals to bring back that nostalgia and wonder. I hope they some how get her back before the tour.
Melody we support u queen. they think they are slick by saying ALL 5 MEMBERS ARE BACK TOGETHER. there were 6 girls and its so disrespectful of them to not even bring her up. Dont get me wrong Nicole is very talented but until she figures out how to be in a group, I dont see it working. karma is a b****.
