Did You Miss It? Dionne Warwick Flubs the Lyrics to ‘This Christmas’ Live on ‘GMA’ [Watch]

Published: Wednesday 11th Dec 2019 by Rashad

Dionne Warwick is dashing through the shows on a promo blitz in support of her star-studded holiday album, ‘The Voices of Christmas’ (in stores now).

Featuring the likes of Andra Day, Michael McDonald, Boyz II Men star Wanya Morris, Chloe x Halle, and more, the critically acclaimed effort is seeing more and more of its cuts get the live treatment leading into Christmas day.  Most recently spotted on ‘Good Morning America’ (December 10), the 78-year-old tapped Grammy nominee Aloe Blacc to assist with her rendition of Donny Hathaway classic, ‘This Christmas.’

It started well, but shortly after the performance kicked off the legendary diva had a memory lapse, stumbled over a few lyrics, and attempted to ad-lib her way through the rest of the song.

Making for awesomely bad (and awkward) TV, look inside if you missed any of the action:

Bonus:  Doesn’t Patti Labelle‘s similar flub at the 1996 National Tree Lighting ceremony immediately come to mind?  Where’s ‘Got2BReal’ when you need it?

LOL oh please, that woman is old as hell, and she’s a Legend that’s been performing longer than your basic streaming faves have been alive. She’s allowed to flub a lyric or two lol.

Wow, Dionne’s mishap was minor compared to Patti’s mess. Either way, at least both of their voices sounded good, regardless of the forgotten lyrics.

Look like she almost had a seizure. SMH

    It’s what she deserves.

What do you mean, she deserves it?

Considering that she is 79 years old and hardly ever “messes” up, give her a break. I have heard her in concert years ago with Burt Bacharach, it was probably one of the best concerts I have ever seen and heard. It is true that she has lost her upper range and not as much breath (cigarettes) support, but she is second only to Aretha Franklin, in most charted hits.
