New Song: Teyana Taylor – ‘We Got Love’

Published: Friday 6th Dec 2019 by Sam

Teyana Taylor has unleashed brand new single ‘We Got Love.’

The hard-hitting ode to the L word is lifted from the singer’s hotly anticipated third LP ‘The Album’ – which is due early 2020.

Interestingly, the Kanye West produced cut was initially intended to appear on Taylor’s sophomore set ‘K.T.S.E’ but was held off that project due to clearance issues.

With the t’s crossed and the i’s dotted, Taylor struts on with the song’s release. Speaking on its arrival, she said:

“I’ve always felt this was such a special record and wanted it to have the right moment.”

Take a listen to ‘We Got Love’ below…

Lyrically engaging and sonically solid, this may well be our favorite from ‘The Album’ so far.

It’ll appear alongside the King Combs assisted ‘How You Want It?’ and ‘Morning’ featuring Kehlani – both of which were Top 20 and Top 10 R&B hits respectively.

Teyana, as talented as you are, I unfortunately think your time has passed. Kanye fumbled with your career. There was a lot of momentum after the fade video, but KTSE messed everything up and I’m not sure how you can turn this around. I don’t even hear urban radio play your songs…

I want her to win. We need more successful women of color in music.

.@TaylorSwift13 shows love for @Camila_Cabello’s new album, #Romance:

“We have no choice but to stan this greatness!”
Early favourites are used this and dream of u.

I thought u said Taylor doesnt like Camila anymore?
Or are u gonna deny that u never said it cause I got the receipts.

The main pop girls have SOLO #1 hits.

Camila isn’t liked by her pop peers. Taylor Swift doesn’t even like her any longer…maybe that’s why she’s flopping now. The Swifties aren’t supporting her a**.

      I keep receipts
Watch the haters twist this, Camila is still clinging on to Taylor.
Without Taylor , Camila will flop

When the album debut high, I wonder the kind of nonsense u will cook up.

Another song that the public will pay dust.

    She tries to damn hard.

    She’s another normani.

I like Teyana so this comment is about her music. But, I really hate the graphic artwork for this song. I’m a dark skinned person, and I find it infuriating when an artist darkens their skin for artistic or visual purposes. If a dark skin person were to lighten their skin for the same purpose it would be seen as self hate. You’re black. You don’t need to darken your skin to make your point about the song. You already have a wig on.

That seems like more of a effect of the lighting, more of shadows.

I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen her in person, but trust she’s not all that much lighter than this photo lol. I’m a photographer, and lighting can take someone across multiple skin shades, so don’t assume she darkened herself. I could easily take a medium brown skinned person and recreate this look/skin tone without any post manipulation.

You both are delusional. Not going to argue about something that is clearly right in front of your faces. She is NO WHERE near this dark. If this was the first picture you saw of her you would immediately recognize her as a dark skin women. She isn’t, and that irrefutable.

      • JA_LA December 6, 2019

It’s a photograph with editorial/artistic lighting. I know what’s lighting and what is done in post production to either darken or lighten skin. This is very easy to do with just lighting alone, if you know what you’re doing. In the same vein, I could make her look as light as Beyonce with lighting alone. You all just like to speak on things that you clearly know nothing about and want to have sh*t to say about everyone and everything. I was also at Rick Owen’s birthday party less than 2 weeks ago AND SAW TEYANA UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL WITH MY OWN TWO EYES WITHOUT ANY SPECIAL LIGHTING and she is very much a brown skin girl. It doesn’t take much to make her look as dark as the photo. You’re delusional if you think that by looking at photograph it makes you an expert on photography and lighting. GTFOH.

        Okay delusional

If she were this dark, Lil Kim wouldn’t want her to play her. So these “lighting” arguments are rendered invalid.

I like the image! Grace Jones inspired, she looks amazing ??

Remember when Brand & Tim did Afrodisiac and they were in sync. Teyana and Kanye have that same chemistry. Her voice shines along with him.

Love him or hate him he has a way with music and it’s generally so far ahead it’s scary.

  7. Around the way filet December 6, 2019

Teyana has no originality. At first she was trying to be the female Pharrell, then she was Lauryn Hill, then mini Janet, now she’s Grace Jones? IDK who Teyana is, as talented as she may be.

  8. Happy n Rich December 6, 2019

I actually like this – a lot. This is ’20 fresh and hits everything going on now in hip hop at a 90° angle. I hope there are some dollars somewhere to put behind this.

I dig it. This earns playtime in my playlist rotation.
