‘My Heart Will Go On’ singer Celine Dion‘s reportedly going on with her hotly-selling ‘Courage’ World Tour despite reports her mother, Thérèse (affectionately known as Maman Dion), has passed away at the age of 92.
Details inside:
Just six months after the Pop icon’s sister, Claudette, opened up about their mother’s failing health, the matriarch has passed away. Mother to 14 children (of which the superstar singer is the youngest), Thérèse – a recognized musical talent in the family’s native Quebec – is credited as the writer of Céline’s first single, “Ce n’était qu’un rêve.” The tune launched her nearly 40-year career and helped make her one of the world’s most beloved divas.
Celine took to social media to share this touching tribute:

The news comes four years after the loss of her brother and husband, René Angélil, two days apart (click here to read more on that). The 51-year-old took to Instagram just two days ago to commemorate the anniversary of the latter’s death.
So sad.
This woman can’t catch a break. My thoughts and prayers are with her
With all respect but her mom was 92 years old.
It was to be expected. My condolences go out to her nevertheless.
The anniversary of her husband’s death was just three days ago. In reference to “catch a break” I’m referring to timing not age.
True. January either brings life to Céline (her eldest son) or takes it away (dad, husband, bro and, now, ma). She must dread this month superstitious as we know her to be.
Mamma
You gave life to me
Turned a baby into a lady
Mamma
All you had to offer
Was the promise of a lifetime of love
Now I know
There is no other
Love like a mother’s love for her child
And I know
A love so complete
Someday must leave
Must say goodbye
.
may she rest in peace
Yup. Beautiful song. Very apropos.
WOW the younger of 14 child!!! That´s a lot. And look what a gift to those parents that last child was! Thank to the universe to people like Celine and of course I imagine her mother was of that same nature. That mother sure worked a LOT with such huge family. I´m sure Celine is devastated in this time when she seemed to really have found new joys with new music, shape and dancing. RIP.
Funny how her late mother didn’t want a 14th kid. Almost aborted at 40 if not for a priest who dissuaded her. Glad she blessed the world with such a voice and got to go from having her kids sleep in drawers to mansions and limos thanks to her youngest.
This is so freaking Sad. I feel for her. My condolences
I swear I opened the blog thinking “I feel there’s some news about Céline.” and BAM! Mama Dion was her youngest daughter’s biggest inspiration. May she rest in heavenly peace along with her husband, son, and son-in-law.
