Cardi B’s Remixed ‘Coronavirus’ Viral Hit Soars To iTunes’ Top 10

Who knew comic relief from a viral pandemic would spawn a viral hit for Cardi B?

Last week, the 27-year-old – in her typical animated manner – took to social media to express her fears over the spread of coronavirus.  As the video garnered attention across the Web, DJ iMarkkeyz fashioned quotes from the visual into a song and uploaded the tune to iTunes and Apple Music.

Earlier this week, Cardi gave the remix her stamp of approval – a “thumbs up” that gave it just the push needed to shoot it to the top of digital sales charts.

As of time reported, DJ iMarkkeyz’ ‘Coronavirus’ is in iTunes USA’s top 10:

As of time reported, the song sits at #9 on the tally – blasting past some of today’s top hits.  At this rate, it stands a good chance to appear on next week’s Billboard Hot 100.

Cardi – much aware of the momentum behind the track – took to Twitter to announce a portion of proceeds from purchases will support families financially impacted by the outbreak.

The song’s success comes just days after the Grammy winner announced her new single, the first from her highly anticipated sophomore album, would be delayed due to the coronavirus, ironically.

Lol its a parody record not anything epic plus its someone that sampled her and made it what it is not her. When I first saw her saying this on insta I didn’t realise who it was until I read this my oh my how the genre has fallen from epic classics to tragic nothingness

The public has spoken and they want new music from Cardi B. this goes on to show you can’t buy the public or genuine love. Rap’s IT girl remains unbothered

Always thought Cardi’s likable cooky side her money shot. Wish fellow natural clown, Tamar Braxton, had gone that route too by incorporating humor into her much toi weepy songs. Cardi should go back to fun rap à la Washpoppin’. The hardcorial stuff ain’t as fun. Betcha Nicki would rub people the right way if she dropped the frown and clowned around à la Eminem circa early 2000s. We need message with lols.
