Although Roddy Ricch‘s ‘The Box’ has seen its name wrapped around the Hot 100’s pole position for over 2 months straight, its reign may be coming to an end thanks to Pop princess Dua Lipa.
‘Don’t Start Now,’ the lead single from her April 3-due sophomore album, ‘Future Nostalgia,’ has consistently been rising on charts since its debut. As we reported here, the last few upward moves have come as personal bests for the 24-year-old.
Now, thanks to a handsome mix of streams, sales, and blockbuster radio airplay, the ‘New Rules’ singer is one rung shy of ruling the charts.
“Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” lifts from No. 3 to a new No. 2 Hot 100 high, as it hits No. 1 on Radio Songs (97.8 million, up 3%), becoming the pop singer-songwriter’s first leader on the latter list.(Meanwhile, with the song released on Warner Records, it’s the first Radio Songs No. 1 by a female artist on the label unaccompanied by another artist since Madonna’s “Take a Bow,” which ruled for nine weeks beginning in February 1995.”
