Megan Thee Stallion Celebrates Court Win Over Record Label: ‘I Will Stand Up For Myself & Won’t Be Bullied’

Published: Thursday 5th Mar 2020 by Rashad

Megan Thee Stallion will be trotting to digital record shelves Friday (March 6) with her long-awaited EP, ‘Suga,’ thanks to a recent decision rendered by a Texas judge denying her label’s attempt to block it.

As we previously reported, Carl Crawford – CEO of Stallion’s label home (1501 Certified Entertainment) – took to the courts to reverse the ‘Hot Girl Summer’ hitmaker’s temporary restraining order against him and the imprint.  Despite a clause in her contract expressly requiring her to get the company’s approval before releasing new music, the restraining order allows her to bypass the condition to release music without his consent.

The 25-year-old isn’t wasting any time celebrating the win, as evidenced by a recent Instagram post.

See what she had to say about the good news inside:

FACTS ARE FACTS AND THE FACTS ARE PUBLIC ‼️ I’m extremely pleased that 1501 and Carl Crawford were denied the request to dissolve the Court order and try to stop my music from being released. I will proceed with the release of “SUGA”. On Friday March 6, To be clear, I will stand up for myself and won’t allow two men to bully me, I am NO ONES PROPERTY. Y’all are choosing to highlight the issue of music splits…talk about everything else. This has nothing to do with anyone else including JAY-Z, stop deflecting and trying to make this a publicity stunt, I want my rights, The facts are; 1. 1501 doesn’t want to approve my budget to put out my project that the court is allowing to be released. 2. 1501 tried to stop my release, I prevailed in court 3. 1501 tried to fight the decision today, the court denied 1501’s request??‍♀️ respect my deceased mother, she’s not here, you don’t know her, you weren’t involved, Carl should speak for himself, All the facts are public record available at the courthouse in Houston.

The “deflection” referenced above is a clap back to J. Prince, a consultant with 1501, who claimed Roc Nation and Stallion lied on him in court documents to work around her contract.  Click here to read his stinging comments.

She need to read them papers and contracts first so she wouldn’t have even been in this situation

    • High Price March 5, 2020

She’s young… you live and you learn. Good thing this situation didn’t straggle.

Lmao! They had to have just posted this while I was typing in the other post because I basically just said this! ?

Kudos to you Meg! Stand up for something or fall for anything. ?

I’m just glad this won’t be like the case it was for JoJo. That would have been TRAGIC! And unfortunate for her to go out like that because like JoJo, we haven’t seen Meg’s full potential just yet. Like most of the haters, I’m definitely still interested in her too.

    • Here we go again March 5, 2020

She has enough buzz to do something without a label. And those live show checks add up

  5. Clarks0o0ñ March 5, 2020

But 90 percent of the money from the sales is going to the man you’re fighting and standing up to

    • High Price March 5, 2020

Well if rolled out right, her name can continue to be solidified and once she’s back on her feet (imminently), She could make all of that PLUS more right back. Going M.I.A at this point in her career is an automatic death sentence. And we all know in this generation, time is of the essence..

    • Gworl Bye March 5, 2020

No, the other guys would only stand to get royalties from this one album she’s releasing tomorrow, not future releases.

  6. Dc March 5, 2020

She still only gonna make 40 percent did she really win lol

    • High Price March 5, 2020

If she wants her name to have some type of longevity in this industry, she better look at it as an investment until she signs to another label… My thing is, I hope she makes the best of it. Don’t just release and walk away, she has to make this the project of the summer. Keep the streets fed until her next project.

      • Dc March 5, 2020
