The entertainer’s career is managed by a number of parties (300 Entertainment and Roc Nation being just two of them) and recently found itself at a standstill when she asked bosses at 1501 to amend the contract she signed with them before she became a Hip-Hop household name.
This week, legal documents reveal the ghastly nature of her contract with the company and lift the lid on the fact that she believes her decision to stand up to the company may be why unflattering stories about hit the media cycle at the top of the year.
The supposed puppet master she believes is trying to take her down?
A man named Carl Crawford who is the CEO of the company…and Evelyn Lozada‘s baby father.
TMZ reports that Megan suspects that he worked with the Hip-Hop mogul J. Prince to poison her public image to punish her for standing up to him.
Megan thinks Prince has had a hand in an online smear campaign against her … including the recent story about her getting arrested 5 years ago.
All of these headaches simply aren’t worth it to Megan, who says in exchange for signing the contract she got a measly $10,000 advance. Hence, her desire to renegotiate.
Megan’s troubles come a decade after her ‘Hot Girl Summer‘ collaborator Nicki Minaj condemned the kinds of deals female rappers are pressured into signing in an interview recorded in 2009.
