The Weeknd Ends Roddy Ricch’s 11-Week Reign Atop the Hot 100

As we reported here, industry analysts predicted The Weeknd would end Roddy Ricch‘s 11-week hold on the Hot 100’s summit;  they were right.

Get the details inside:

Thanks to the blockbuster sales of his latest album, ‘After Hours,’ The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) saw his already rising hit – ‘Blinding Lights’ – receive the ultimate boost from the commercial response to the LP (which included 1 billion streams on Spotify alone).

Courtesy of a handsome mix of streams (32.1 million), radio airplay (82.2 million impressions), and digital downloads (15,000) the song catapulted to #1 from its previous peak of #2 (attained last week).

Coming as the fifth chart-topper of his career, ‘Lights’ is the second #1 hit he’s obtained from the ‘After Hours’ album alone.  It follows the set’s lead single, ‘Heartless,’ which debuted at chart’s summit in December 2019.
