You were the psychic of the sound of black spirit and culture. You could stare into a song in the same way you could stare into a person. If there was a star in there you’d be the first to point it out. They would not know me if it weren’t for Tammy, Teddy and Puff and they, too, were discovered by You; Andre Harrell. The smile, the dances, the glasses, the honesty. We are at a loss but because of that, we know what Heaven has gained. You are with the Master now. Blessings to your family and your love ones at this time. GOD IS THE GREATEST.

I only know you by seeing you smile. I only know you by hearing you speak passionately about music. I only know you by you showing us what made people connect to music! You were a true visionary! You took a chance on me at 16 years old giving me a chance to produce for Uptown artists! Then when I wanted to do music in film, you gave me my first gig with the movie Honey! I will miss the intensity and passion of our conversations about music and business but I will never forget last year when you called me and said I’m just calling you to check on you, that meant more then everything else that I mentioned. You were a real one! @andreharrell 🙏🏽 May God watch over your family! 🙏🏽

Another sad day😔🙏🏽 We've lost one of the greatest mentors in my life. I'm so happy I got to tell you 1 hour before the versus Battle, how much I respect and love you, as my big brother and mentor! The pep talk that you've giving me right before, felt like the same pep talks that you've given me the beginning of Uptown records, sleeping on the couch at your office (Brownstone) in BK. You chose me out of all the kids that you could have picked to work with you. I can replay IT in my head, all of the moments that I've taken the train and when I got my first car driving to Brooklyn, skipping school, and becoming that sponge just to learn and get my hands on that mixing board at Chung King Studios. I will never forget, all of these cherished moments and I will never forget you!!! 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 I salute you…King of New Jack Swing👑👑👑 My condolences to the Harrell family & to my Uptown family 4life!!! #rip #greatest #legend #legacy #newjackswing #king

Andre was the man Diddy, Mary J Blige and many other artist from the 80’s, 90’s, and now owe the start of their career to this man!

  2. Gee May 10, 2020

Andre Harrell was an innovator, and visionary who had the eye, and ear for greatness. May he Rest In Heavenly Peace!!! My condolences, and prayers go to all those who are affected by his tragic loss.

So sad! 😢 Apart from Clarence Avant, Andre Harrell was really that guy to bless, help and motivate every talented person he came into contact with, black and white! He knew how to bring the best out of people, regardless if he was working directly with them or not…He loved black culture for REAL, and never wanted us to be accepted by being watered down! He wanted us to be the best versions of ourselves but be REAL at the same time! He wanted us to have the best in life! 🥂 Listening to the music from his record label has been so comforting….knowing that it was loved, cared for, finessed, packaged and marketed by this great man! The music sounds special cause it is special! It’s magical 🥰 Forget the charts, this is black artistic expression and excellence! Thank GOD he was working on the Uptown Records mini-series for BET and it will still see the light of day…thank GOD he left a legacy and a blueprint that will never be forgotten…prayers to his family and friends! 🙏🏽 ❤️
