Predictions Are In: John Legend’s ‘Bigger Love’ Set To Sell…

Published: Monday 22nd Jun 2020 by Rashad

Love or loathe him, what can’t be denied is John Legend‘s hustle knows few rivals.

From radio to television, print, and beyond, the EGOT winner’s been on fire for the last two months in promotion of his long-awaited seventh studio effort ‘Bigger Love.’  Branded his sexiest album yet, Legend’s also described the set as a timely, ‘uplifting’ affair given the state of the world.

Yet, despite the onslaught of press allotted the LP’s leading songs – ‘Actions,’ ‘Conversations in the Dark,’ and its title track – he’s certainly seen bigger buzz.

Taking the June 19-released opus to chart battle even though most of its singles missed the Hot 100 all together, look inside to see just how many units ‘Bigger’ is expected move its first week:

John Legend’s ‘Bigger Love’

First Week Sales Prediction (SPS):  17,000-20,000

First Week Sales Prediction (Pure):  6,000-8,000

First Week Predicted Billboard 200 Placement:  #10-#15

If the prediction rings true, ‘Bigger Love’ will be Legend’s lowest first week sales to date (among studio albums).

The personal record was previously held by his 2016 effort, ‘Darkness and Light,’ which bowed at #14 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of 38,000 (SPS).

This album does nothing for me. He need to call Kanye.

    • Neon June 22, 2020

I was disappointed – it may be a grower, but on first few listens I could only get into about 3 song.

  2. Cody+s June 22, 2020

His wife has completely turned me off about him. She talk so much and too much.

    • G-bby June 22, 2020

      She is annoying AF! lol

      • my+name June 23, 2020

        nah y’all miserable.
How can someone’s joy be annoying to you. She is goofy and happy. Where as you see happiness and become miserable and judgy. So much, that you over look Johns music and focus on his wife. Y’all are some truly sad people.

This is more than I expected to be honest. Its felt like he’s been released singles for the past 3 years in promotion of this album.

. Don’t think he can keep up in this streaming era. He had a nice run and will be legend

    • MessyBoots June 22, 2020

      Good for him.

It doesnt matter if he only hit 5k.. the current No.1 on the Billboard 200 is a Lil Baby album that barely sold 1k.. it was mostly powered by 12-20 year olds replaying (or streaming as they say) over and over again. Lil Baby has something like 110m streams this week. I’m sure John has less than a quarter of that number.

We all know streaming is overwhelmingly dominated by males aged 12-24. Their music of choice is mostly (and SADLY) one dimensional trap rap. They are NOT checking for R&B and definitely not a 40 plus RnB veteran/legend.

This is a good number for John in today’s music “sales” climate.

No one cares anymore about these updates TGJ.

      Do better.

This album is full of real soulful vibes. I would have to be in a certain mood to want to listen to it regularly though.

  6. Introspection June 22, 2020

his annoying activism is ruining his music

    • MessyBoots June 22, 2020

      His ‘annoying’ activism?! LOL.

      Poor baby.

How is championing equality ‘ruining’ his musical output?

What would you rather see him doing instead? 🤔

  7. High Price June 22, 2020

Damn! Yeah, his wife is definitely a cancer in life. I can’t stand her ass.

  8. Paulo June 22, 2020

I think he is so talented but can’t remember the last album of his I listened in full. tbh I think he is putting himself in a corner with these watered-down Adult radio singles that generate mainstream streaming/spins but alienate the people who would actually buy and stream the whole album.

    • Theman June 22, 2020

like it was thrown out there.

  9. Theman June 22, 2020

He like many other r&b staples/artists don’t have radio hits to help generate streams and steady airplay. Urban radio doesn’t even really play r&b really. That’s a catastrophe. And although he’s released a couple singles, the project seems like it was

  10. MonkeySeeMonkeyDo June 22, 2020

The singles from it are trash.

  11. J June 22, 2020

Certified flop. I see why Alicia won’t release lol. I forgot all about her last album

    • Kelvin July 3, 2020

Alicia is smart not to release yet, but I will definitely be supporting her album . Johns album on the other hand just wasn’t hitting . And no one sells albums anymore sadly .

  12. CUPCAKKE PUSS POWER June 22, 2020

    He’s declining….. he’s just a yummy piano man

  13. 4U2SEE June 22, 2020

I haven’t heard him yet and not a fan but the Love is the problem. Today, he should have used Bigger Hate.

    • CUPCAKKE PUSS POWER June 22, 2020

      Or bigger d-I-c-k-s

  14. XYZ June 23, 2020

    I’m diassppointed in that album

  15. Happy+n+Rich June 23, 2020

Oh, he has an album out. Cool.

  16. lostone June 23, 2020

I didn’t even know he had an album out. I am not surprised by the low sales numbers.
