Teyana Taylor’s fascination with the 90s and all of its trappings is celebrated on her new album ‘The Album’….;launched via GOOD Music and Def Jam last week.
Today she gave the world fresh insight into the experiences which inspired its conception and its exploration of love, lust, rage and loss during an interview with ‘The Breakfast Club’.
There, she also revealed that many of her songs sample tracks released by the black stars of yesteryear to introduce them to younger audiences and preserve their legacies.

I love this girl but….she is becoming a caricature of the 90s she loves so much. It’s cute to pay homage but I can’t help but feel she is trying to recreate magic made by her predecessors and it’s not going to happen. Her own artistry is being lost in the sauce. I want her to win major as she is talented all round, to be a huge star in RnB I’m just going to need her to lowkey let go of the 90s and start with a fresh new sound that isn’t a homage, sample or reminiscent of 90s.
