Destiny’s Child Becomes RIAA’s Most Certified Girl Group Of All-Time

Published: Wednesday 8th Jul 2020 by Sam

The ladies of Destiny’s Child may be pursuing their own paths, but their legacy continues to shine…with a Platinum hue.

Full story below…

The Recording Industry Association of America has updated certifications for the super-group – comprised of Beyonce, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams – and what an update it was.

Long overdue, the move sees several of DC3’s classics elevated to Platinum or multi-Platinum status.

These include ‘Lose My Breath’, ‘Jumpin, Jumpin’, ‘Survior’, and ‘Say My Name’ – the latter of which has been certified 3x Platinum (representing 3 million Stateside sales to date).

The refresh means Destiny’s Child becomes the Most Certified Girl Group In RIAA History.

*********

So deserved!

Suffice to say, this only increases our thirst for a reunion…of any sort.

In the here and now, what are…

Your thoughts?

Totally Queen B power!! Not to mention the other two, they are just substitutes.

    • Lia July 8, 2020

Lol wow you sound like a miserable person, hating on the other members for no reason. Let’s uplift everyone and support everyone. Why not? Other than hating just to hate?

      • Karma July 8, 2020

Because they live a sad miserable life. It’s always your own people putting you down. Tell us, what have you contributed except hate and animosity?? You know very well who those other 2 are, but they don’t not care about your existence, not to mention, Queen B would pay you dust!

can we start crediting the WHOLE Destiny’s Child and not just DC3 for the overall achievements of the group? thank you.

props to the best female group of our lifetime! they deserve it

    • DC3 FOREVER July 8, 2020

No! 7 out of the 10 certifications were DC3 and that’s who a Destiny’s Child is! PERIOD

      • Paulo July 8, 2020

The Writings On The Wall is still their best-selling album in the US and Say My Name is still their most instantly recognizable and awarded hit. Destiny’s Child is made of five girls and they all deserve credit PERIOD

      • MessyBoots July 8, 2020

        Exactly @Paulo

      • Lia July 8, 2020

        @ Paulo

That album is a whole bop but the world knows DC3. They became powerhouses as DC3. Most of their hits were DC3. Michelle has been in the group longer than the original members at this point.

      • Paulo July 8, 2020

@Lia did I say write Michelle off? Or did I say include all five contributing members as part of this group’s legacy? Survivor wouldn’t have blown up if it wasn’t for the break-up, Bey herself only wrote that song due to media coverage of it. Beyonce has already acknowledged all of them during her Billboard Icon speech so idk why is this still a debate with some DC3 stans. Giving L&L their due props does not take away anything from K and M

I was just coming to say this. Latoya, Kelly, Michelle, Latavia and Beyoncé make DC. Start recognizing ALL 5!

      • DC3 FOREVER July 8, 2020

All start recognizing all 5 of them when they do. Until then it will always be KELLY MICHELLE & BEYONCÉ as Destiny’s Child…. the way it’s been for the last 20 years. Sorry if I don’t include members in the group for 2 1/2 years of the success of the group…. are we including Farrah as well?

      • Lia July 8, 2020

I think we recognize that there were original members but the world knows DC3. They became powerhouses as DC3. Most of their hits were DC3. Michelle has been in the group longer than the original members at this point.

      • Moti25 July 8, 2020

SORRY! Destinys Child is KELLY BEYONCE AND MICHELLE!

    I need an album!

    • DC3 FOREVER July 8, 2020

      LIKE ASAP! & A Tour!

  4. Zion Harris July 8, 2020

    TLC >>>>>>

    • NextB July 8, 2020

      Absolutely

    • Lia July 8, 2020

Why Must it be a competition with women? They’re both so different and equally great for various reasons. Only similarity is that they’re women in a group.

  5. DC3 FOREVER July 8, 2020

    DC3 FOREVER!!!!!

LOVE YOU CHELLE, KElZ & BEY!!

  6. MessyBoots July 8, 2020

Destiny’s Child was my 2nd favorite girl group of all time.

TLC will always be my No.1 period.

I dont subscribe to RIAA stat achievements since they dont update regularly enough for me to believe DC is most certified. They’re also biased to artists of the digital era selling millions of MCsingles at 99 cents when 90s artists such as TLC or Spice Girls or SWV didnt have those options.
    But congrats regardless. 🤷🏾‍♂️

    • Gag July 8, 2020

Lol you said all that to give a backhanded congratulations…it’s not hard to believe that Destiny’s Child made this achievement with the shake ups they had and being headlines in the early 2000s. Also I hate that people really get in their feelings about numbers..like is that the only reason we listen to artists now is for them to get a number 1? Not saying you are but seems that what it’s been reduced to with these stans

      • MessyBoots July 9, 2020

        No I applaud DC.

TGJ reduces most of the pop acts w/ numbers and chart stats alongside the fanbases.

So yeah I threw a little shade at the RIAA certification… not DC per se.

  7. SewWhat July 8, 2020

Diana Ross and the Supremes. This was and always will be Beyonce’s act.

  8. Keith July 8, 2020

Congrats to Columbia’s Sales and Marketing team for this one! When all 5 of the women of DC and EnVogue decide to come to their senses and give us the reunion albums we thirst for, then I will be happy. Meanwhile…

  9. Anthony July 8, 2020

Congrats Bey! And everyone else involved

  10. Detruth July 8, 2020

So does this mean they are the best selling girl group from America or is that still TLC? No hate or shade just really want to know.

  11. Andrew Ekpiwhre July 8, 2020

So happy for Beyonce and the girls

  12. AJ July 8, 2020

They are easily the best group since modern times 1990 onwards when billboard kept decent records.

Let’s be honest, they’ve not exactly had great competition have they? In their respective lanes, 3WL, Fifth Harmony etc were okay but largely pale in comparison.

The article is really useful and truly motivating.. I agree with the article and a few sentences here, you compose the sentence well, I understand what you mean, this will build an opinion in me because in this article reminds me of something in the past in my life.

  14. The+truth+always+comes+to+light July 8, 2020

Congrats Beyoncé Kelly & Michelle!!! 15-20 years later ppl is still hungry for a DC reunion/ tour! This would most likely be the highest grossing tour ever in all their careers if they decided to get back together & tour! & the amount of money to be made would be insane!
