‘Midnight Sky,’ the first single from Miley Cyrus‘ forthcoming seventh studio album ‘She is Miley Cyrus,’ is off to a promising start.
After ample teasing, the song and its accompanying, self-directed music video were unveiled Friday (August 14). In the days since, it’s already amassed 24 million views on YouTube and millions of spins on streaming platforms.
Yet, as its commercial performance numbers roll in, it appears streaming isn’t the only avenue the Louis Bell & Andrew Watt-produced bop is winning on.
Look inside for more:
Though trailing behind the likes of Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion‘s ‘WAP’ and Drake & Lil Durk‘s ‘Laugh Now Cry Later‘ on real-time U.S. sales tallies, ‘Midnight Sky’ – a mainstay in the top 5 on iTunes USA since its premiere -is shining its brightest on the world stage.
As of time reported, the disco cut sits at #1 on Worldwide iTunes – rising past previous leaders Jason Derulo (‘Savage’), Dua Lipa (‘Levitating’), and Harry Styles hit ‘Watermelon Sugar.’ Its ascent was sweetened by sales domination in Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and other countries. As if that’s not enough, the song was one of the most added Pop tunes to radio Friday.
While we won’t learn about ‘Midnight’s inaugural Hot 100 placement until Monday (August 24), what’s for sure is its favorable response on radio, streaming, and digital downloads platforms should spell for a healthy debut
