Report: Madonna Signs Huge Deal To Return To Warner Bros, Home Of Her Biggest Releases

Published: Saturday 8th Aug 2020 by Sam

Madonna is making moves. Literally.

The Pop royal has reportedly inked a major record deal, one which brings her back to the record label at the helm of her biggest career successes.

Full story below…

According to a new report, the superstar has signed to Warner Bros as part of an eight-figure multi-year deal.

The news is notable in that it means Madge is back at the label that released every one of her albums from 1983’s self-tiled debut to 2008’s ‘Hard Candy.’

Subsequent efforts arrived via Interscope, after the Universal imprint won a fierce bid for the diva’s recording rights in the wake of her blockbuster Live Nation 360 deal.

With 2019’s ‘Madame X’ concluding the music component of that partnership, her free agent status saw her able to sign elsewhere – which the 62-year-old has done.

A source close to the deal shared:

“The fact is, she sells records, people around the world adore her and every label would love to have her on their books.

Warner feels like the best place given their history.

But Madonna comes at a hefty price. She can command big money and wants to make sure whatever deal she signs is the best thing for her and her music.”

Interestingly, Warner is also home to Dua Lipa – who Madge has teamed with for the remix to ‘Levitating.’

    • Caleb August 9, 2020

Interscope is useless. The only promote Gaga

    • Misty Knight August 8, 2020

And Billie Eilish, Eminem, Imagine Dragons, Juice Wrld, Maroon 5, Selena Gomez, U2…yeah, they only promote Gaga.

This is all rumor right now. No one is going to give her an 8 figure contract. Her last album barely sold 200k copies. A complete flop. In these days where she can’t even get radio play, no major company is going to put that much risk into any artist, regardless of their fame and past history of sales

Um, no one makes money on albums anymore, it’s about touring. And she makes a LOT of money touring. and unless you are under 30, you aren’t selling millions of albums either.

The only people shifting huge numbers nowadays are Adele and Taylor Swift so this strikes me as a little odd. Unless they have some new kinda revenue stream I think the only way the label can justify this is if she guaranteed them a piece of that lucrative touring revenue.

  9. Misty Knight August 8, 2020

They want a piece of her touring profits, which are HUGE. If they sign her, it’s part of a 360 deal where they share all profits from every part of her sales. No, she can’t sell records or even get NEW songs played on the radio, but her tours are ENORMOUS and that’s where the money is. These new girls can’t fill seats. Do you really think Dua Lipa is going to fill 20,000 seat arenas….

    • Mike August 10, 2020

Preach!! 🙂 Yes, tours are where the money is.

Um, Ariana is selling big arenas just fine, and Dua Lipa is poised to do so shortly albeit the concert climate is at a standstill. When are people going to realize that at a certain point new music for the most part when it comes from an artist that’s been around more than 20 years is for the long-standing fans. A very small few will keep themselves on radio beyond their early 30’s like Madonna, Pink, Cher, Tina but that is a VERY small group. Nobody should be comparing Madonna’s sales to Taylor or Adele or even Lady GaGa who I believe is 32 right now which is the age that Madonna was when she released her Immaculate Collection in 1990, which was followed by Erotica, Bedtime Stories, Ray Of Light, Music, and Confessions, all highly successful albums recorded during her 30’s and 40’s. Compare Madonna to her peers that she came up with. They are either dead, or they don’t even dent the chart when they release an album. I recall that Madonna’s Rebel Heart album was the 50the best selling album worldwide when it came out in 2015. How many albums are released every year? That’s a darn good showing if you ask me as that was 32 years into her career at the time.
