    • Monica stans are deluded August 5, 2020

Explain Code Red, New Life, The Makings of Me and even All Eyez On Me that was shelved then….

Monica hasn’t had a platinum album since 2003, a year after Brandy’s last. And Full Moon outsold that.

      • Interac August 5, 2020

I see how you so carefully left out ‘still standing’ when writing your comment. 180k first week, 2010.

      • IKNOWTHETRUTH August 5, 2020

GIIIIRLLLL EXACTLY BRANDY DELIVERS DUD AFTER DUD N HAS BEEN DECLINING IN SALES SINCE NEVER SAY NEVER N SHE NEVA HIT IT BIG AGAIN. EVERYTHING AFTER WENT LOWER N LOWER.

      • FLOP IS KING August 5, 2020

2010. A decade ago. Let’s see how Monica’s sales will look in 2020. Fact of the matter is, Brandy still outsold Monica.

        Miss Thang – 1,500,000
The Boy Is Mine – 2,016,000
All Eyez On Me – Shelved after first single flopped
        After The Storm – 1,023,000
The Makings Of Me – 328,000
        Still Standing – 474,000
        New Life – <100K
        Code Red – <100K

        Brandy – 2,140,000
        Never Say Never – 4,600,000
        Afrodisiac – 416,000
        Human – 214,000
        Two Eleven – 186,000

Who's the better vocalist is subjective. Both are great vocalists. However, Brandy is more versatile, unique and stylistic with her vocals. Monica is more traditional with her vocals however her prowess has diminished over the years while Brandy has continued to grow and try new things vocally.

Oops left out Full Moon which sold 1,200,000.

      • Nicky August 5, 2020

        😂😂😂😂😂

Brandy has sold more albums than Monica
Never Say Never outsold Monica’s entire discography with over 14 million sold WW

Tv shows, movies, baby dolls, tours, cover girl endorsements

        Even Monica has bowed down.

There is no argument here 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Classic album. She needs to hook back up with Dallas Austin. It’s been a while since Mo dropped some heat.

    • Mr. RCW August 5, 2020

Did you miss commitment 🔥 ? She was in number 1 on A/C charts 🤷🏽‍♂️

      • Pat August 5, 2020

        So where’s the album then

  3. Mr. RCW August 5, 2020

I enjoyed both parts!!! Wow that album was 25 years ago!!!! Monica is the GOAT. I love her honesty and take on being the underdog!!! She’s such a class act ❤️

  4. Interac August 5, 2020

She continues to flourish in her independence. From hearing the snippets and seeing who she has worked with, I know her first independent album will sound like a major label release. And that’s how you move 20+ years in the game.

  5. Fancy BISH August 5, 2020

I love her cover of the 1983 classic Tell Me If You Still Care by the S.O.S. Band 🤳🏽 The album felt like a greatest hits from the first listen, which is very unique for a debut album of mostly original material….especially from a teenager! The sounds are just right, everything hitting right lol 💯

The beautiful Monica! Monica’s “Miss Thang” is a hallmark in contemporary R&B/Pop. When I listen to the album I literally SEE the now legendary trio of exceptional talent that is Dallas Austin, Monica and Debra Killings. It’s so weird but I always have seen the recording sessions while listening to this album even as a very young t***. I know all the album credits by heart. The look and feel of the album…..super producer Dallas Austin moving to New York being set up officially as an executive by Clive Davis and Monica stepping out her comfort zone shooting iconic images for the album in New York is a freshness actually in the FEELING of the album. Something is unique about the sound of “Miss Thang”! Talent coming straight off “The Chronic” sessions with Dr. Dre wrote and played instruments on Miss Thang…..it is a project blessed with so much talent it’s crazy. They made a masterpiece. The album is just as fresh and fly today as it was in 1995. I could cry how much this album has INSPIRED me.

And the vocal talent of Monica……WOW! It gives me goosebumps! Put respect on songstress Monica! Her and Debra Killings sound AMAZING together. Their vocals and arrangements set the stage for even BRITNEY SPEARS vocal arrangements (of course the songwriters did as well). If you need proof well here it is:

  8. Paulo August 5, 2020

love Monica but I was never that into the debut. hopefully these minidocs change my mind. the title track is a statement though I love it

  9. G-bby August 5, 2020

LOVED this album! So many classic bops on one record. Brandy, Monica and Aaliyah were churning out QUALITY hits at such young ages. My only gripe with Monica is that she hasn’t taken care of her vocals like most of her 90’s counterparts. I know she didn’t want to work with a vocal coach because she wants to be “raw,” but a vocal coach could really help before her vocals take a turn for the worst.

  10. Brandy b7 August 6, 2020

She so fukn ghetto. I can’t

Brandy is the vocal bible & Monica is Co starring on ti and tiny show

  11. Momusicluva August 6, 2020

I only knew the singles from this album when it came out and have grown to love the entire album. It is unbelievable to think that Monica was only 12/13 when she did vocals on this album. I’m so happy that she has stood her ground and remained true to herself and kept it real. I always felt like they overlooked her in awards and I’m glad she mentioned it in this video. How the hell she be nominated multiple times in a category and still don’t win. She has definitely stood the test of times and have come out victorious compared to her contemporaries
