If we’re being honest, she’s simply not on his level. They might’ve been before, but after the Confessions era, he’s been in an entirely different league. He’s still getting top 40 hits today just about every year. That and his marketing. He’s been doing collabs with young artists like Young Thug, Chris Brown, Summer, Ella, and they’ve been big hits. No Limit was another top 40 hits (32) and Party was the biggest it off Chris’ album (40). The song with Summer Walker was the second biggest hit off her album too (42). Also, it may have been something we just don’t know about. He has a diamond album and #1 hits in 3 decades, he deserves to be selective in his collab choices lol
And yet, Monica’s last album outsold ushers last album. Trenches is doing amazing since it’s release during the verzuz, he’ll come around and when he does, I hope she says “too late.” Lol
Trenches is nowhere to be found on any chart sir. Whether Monica sells 1 or 1000 more copies she still isn’t on his level. He isn’t obligated to work with her. She doesn’t have a good ear for music and hasn’t seen the Hot 100 chart in over a decade. That’s factual.

Naw, that doesn’t sound right, Usher is a generous guy who collabs with almost anyone who ask and can make the payments so there could be a more logical, less egotistical reason like he didn’t like the song, the label wouldn’t allow him to, the timing was conflicting. But to say “she just wasn’t on his level”? REALLY?
“Following on the heels of taster cut ‘Don’t Waste My Time’”… and “S–Beat”, “California” and “I Cry”. Every song has had a completely different sound and theme. None of his work this year has been consistent whether it’s intended for the album or not, and he gave a lackluster performance for GMA. Hopefully the new song helps to bring things together.
The only song he released for the actual album in Don’t Waste My Time. SexBeat was in the vault for 3 years, he never actually wanted to release it. California was only for the songland tv show. Then I Cry was just an on the fly song for BLM. At this point DWMT might not even be on the album lol
