New Video: Usher – ‘Bad Habits’

Published: Thursday 10th Sep 2020 by Sam

Usher is back with blazing new single ‘Bad Habits.’

The premiere of the hard-hitting jam was paired with the arrival of its Chris Robinson directed music video.

Both are believed to be lifted from the superstar’s forthcoming studio album – which has been teased as a sequel to his RIAA Diamond certified ‘Confessions’ LP.

Aptly, the confessional cut sees the crooner admit:

“I love love, I’m just bad at it. I just can’t escape all of these Bad Habits.”

Check out the action after the jump…

Now, this is what we’ve been waiting for.

From the subtle nostalgia of the song’s production to the narrative driven video, this was a home-run across the board.

As the ‘Confessions’ era highlighted in earnest, there is ample power in Usher’s output when he leads with lyric and this makes for both a compelling listen and an engaging watch.

Sure, he’s dropped a few buzz tracks in the lead up. But this feels like the definitive “I’m back” moment.

Ignorant haters act like every iconic artist remains at peak success for 50 years when its undeniable that every great artist most successful years was their first 15-20. After that every great artist has slowed down,

Usher’s debut was in 1993 which is 27 years ago and this is currently his fourth decade in the industry, his first 15-20 years he was the only male R&B artist in history to release 3 consecutive 5 million selling albums in America, he was one of only three artist in history to release 5 consecutive albums with at least one Billboard Hot 100 #1. He sold over 60 million albums worldwide with over 95 million digital songs combining for over 160 million records sold worldwide.

He’s had 9 Billboard Hot 100 #1’s which is tied with Elton John, He’s had 13 R&B and hip-hop #1’s which is tied with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder. He’s won 18 Billboard awards, 8 Grammy’s and 8 American music awards. Usher is handsdown the most successful and awarded R&B/Pop artist since Michael Jackson.

Now haters hate but the man legacy is already cemented.

This I agree with. But I think usher did himself in by chasing trends and hits and a messy personal life. But none of this takes away from his impact. I think if he stops chasing that elusive hit and just does whatever he wants artistically and authentically he will get back on top. This song has promise to what he can do with right material.

Gurl, ur stuck in the past

    Nobody dances like this anymore
Nobody sings songs like this anymore
    Nobody dresses like this anymore

    Update ur self.
Usher , u are fabulous for a throw back *katy perry voice* 🤣

There is nothing outdated about his dressing, voice or dance moves. When it comes to trends Usher is one of the veterans artist that always keeps himself fresh and up with the current sound, fashion and hip hop culture. Usher’s dancing is his signature moves same way MJ had his own. If your just trolling for the sake of trolling, just say that because your comment really has no validation or no weight at all.

“Sure, he’s dropped a few buzz tracks in the lead up. But this feels like the definitive “I’m back” moment.”

Back from where? From flopland? 🤣
Anytime a song flops, u guys call it a buzz track.
This will flop and yall will call it another buzz track. Lol

Usher, u are supposed to be doing what Beyonce is doing, releasing music films, carrying urself like a mini god, making provocative music and eye catching visuals, doing surprise releases etc,

    • Beybey September 10, 2020

Keep Beyoncé’s name out of your mouth. You’re in every post calling her a flop amongst other things. Stick to the rivers and the flops (Camila) that you’re used to dustmite.

    I’m liking this !

Regarding the choreo… are you expecting to see him doing what everyone else is doing ?

I wish that vocally he had done a few runs or adlibs to spice it up.
I like the beat change at the end. The effects with the lighting are cool. I hope it performs well.

    Nice song 🔥

  10. #WAP September 10, 2020

I like it but I think he just needs to release a greatest hits album and become a legacy act. We really don’t need or want new music from him. He’s dancing well still, but definitely giving off grandpa at the cookout dancing vibes.

For some reason I hear NeYo.

You have to work and use the computer and internet, and if you can do that and dedicate some time each day then you can do this with no problem.
I have been working with this for a month and have made over $2,000 already. let me know if you need more help.

The choreography is not up to par for someone like Usher. I think he can be challenged more, but I do like the fact that he’s dancing. Like “Don’t Waste My Time”, nothing in the song and video is overs–ualized. It’s just good r&b. If this is the direction Usher intends to keep for the album, I would say he has definitely found his lane again. “Bad Habits” is a winner!!

    • Keith September 10, 2020

@Eric: I agree that the choreo could be more challenging, but I would still rather see that than what most female artists are doing these days – which is ripping steps from J-Setters…

  14. Keith September 10, 2020

Glad to see Usher “back to form”. The video has me interested (actual choreography vs something that looks like it was jacked from HBCU majorettes), the song is just meh. It sounds like what a team of people decided Usher needed to put out to get the attention of his rnb fans. BUT, I am at the ready for the new album…

  15. OOPS September 10, 2020

Usher ihas peaked artistically. He makes mediocre music now

  16. J September 10, 2020

10/10 Give this man his props while he’s still here

  17. Facts r Facts September 10, 2020

    Usher is KING.

I wouldn’t expect you Camilla lovers to appreciate that. This man been in the game since 1993.
