Few acts have galvanised the Pop culture landscape quite like Ariana Grande.

Since strutting onto the scene, the songbird has seen her star soar to higher heights and her command over the charts intensify with each release.

Her latest effort ‘Positions’ arrived this week with tall expectations.

Grande’s sixth studio LP follows last year’s blockbuster ‘Thank U, Next’ and is led by its title track – which looks poised to premiere atop of the singles tally.

Will the album follow suit? The first week predictions are in and bring with it the answer.

Details below…

According to Hits Daily Double, ‘Positions’ is on course to open at #1 with…

240,000-260,000
[Sales Plus Streaming]

*******

60,000-70,000
[Pure Sales]

‘Position’ is positioned to be become Grande’s fifth chart-topper on the Billboard 200 and is tracking towards becoming her second highest opening.

The LP’s projected start is bested only by ‘Thank U, Next,’ which launched with 360,000 in February 2019.

In the current sales climate, the numbers are undoubtedly strong and speak to the consistency of Grande’s commercial clout.

That said, it could also be argued that at this stage of her career, her numbers should – in theory – reflect an upward trend. Which isn’t the case when comparing to ‘Thank U, Next.’

But, as the age old adage goes: “it’s not how you start, but how you finish.”

As such, it’ll be interesting to see how the campaign plays out in the longterm.

Your thoughts?

Of cause the sales are going to be good, its ariana

Just like pink, she has built alot of goodwill with the public , if she makes a boring album, people will still buy it.

But this album is one of her worst works
This album will be forgotten quickly

Honey, she’s aided by streaming! That’s hardly something to celebrate!

“it’ll be interesting to see how the campaign plays out in the longterm.” Lol, There is no such thing as longterm with her. Her music shoots to the top of the charts and then breaks records for falling off just as fast. At this point we should start betting on when that’s gonna be. I give it 3 weeks tops.

That’s what happened with Taylor the last 2 albums. She breaks her own records upon release goes right to #1, sets a new record then everything drops off the charts magically after 1-3 months.

      • #WAP October 31, 2020

Taylor’s album was still at #1 earlier this month idiot

      • TRANS RACIAL QUEEN October 31, 2020

Taylors album is currently number 1.

I just don’t understand. How do you have over 100 million followers on Instagram and even more than that when you add up the followers across social media platforms and only do those numbers it just doesn’t make any sense to me. I know it’s very good numbers for today but are none of her followers at least 1 million of her followers listening to her music? What’s the point of having so many followers if they’re not going to support

    • tyty October 31, 2020

Only about 10% of followers engage with who they follow. The rest are bots, or people who simply like or comment on pics but never go beyond that.

Dangerous woman, my everything, and thank u next are her best. This new album is okay. Some of the tracks she should’ve kept and then she should’ve worked with other producers so the album wouldn’t blur together so much.

Tinashe makes way better albums with no budget compared to Ariana. And, yes, I am comparing them because Tinashe should be as big as Ariana.

      • HavanaONana October 31, 2020

        Said by no one ever

      • Mikns October 31, 2020

        I agree!

  5. Shelly October 31, 2020

Its one of the worst album ever so… I expected much more from her, especially after delivering so many times before.
    Maybe next time…

  6. Christopher Gomes October 31, 2020

    Mediocre

  7. #WAP October 31, 2020

Payola can’t help the negative reviews from critics and fans…

  8. Navy Gravy October 31, 2020

There was no need for this album

  9. Gee October 31, 2020

Those are respectable numbers, however she can not compete with the Taylor’s or Adele’s of the world when it comes to actual sales. Her biggest force is streaming where as Taylor, and Adele can gain numbers from not just streaming but actual pure sales.

      Amen

Keep winning Ariana. 🙂 Only REAL winners know how you feel and what it takes to go No. 1 while breaking records and adding your name among LEGENDS….even surpassing the LEGENDS (I saw the UK charts). 🙂 Don’t pay attention to the FAKE trying to appropriate REALNESS. They are LOST. 🙂

    #WINNINGEVERYTHING 🙂
