Cardi B is not sweating her lack of nominations for the 2021 GRAMMYs.
In fact, the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper revealed on Instagram Live the reason as to why ‘WAP’ did not appear on the nominations list and it was intentional.
Her words below:
“Like I said, I never pressed for a Grammy, but y’all not gonna take away something that I know I worked my *ss off [for], that I deserve.”
She went on to reveal that if she:
“…was pressed for a Grammy I would’ve submitted ‘WAP’ for this year and I didn’t submit it. I didn’t want to be submitted to award shows until I put out my album because I think my album is so good.”
While Cardi did not appear on this list of nominees this year, her ‘WAP’ collaborator, Megan Thee Stallion, received several nominations in the major categories such as Best New Artist and Record of the Year.
Previously, Cardi won the coveted Best Rap Album at the 2019 GRAMMYs for her debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy.’
Her decision to leave ‘WAP’ out of consideration until she releases a body of work she is proud of is certainly understandable.
