2020’s handed out its fair share of wins to female rappers and, if Kash Doll‘s latest victory is any indication, the year’s far from finished doing so.
The Detroit-born femcee may be hard-at-work on her sophomore album, the follow-up to 2019’s critically acclaimed ‘Stacked,’ but thanks to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) she can now stack another career first on her growing pile of achievements.
On Tuesday (November 10), the RIAA updated its logs to reveal Kash Doll’s anthemic ‘Ice Me Out’ is in the Gold club – meaning it’s sold over 500,000 copies in the United States alone. It is her first effort to be certified by the organization.
Having amassed over 24 million views on YouTube alone, the song – which celebrated its two-year anniversary on November 7 – not only ranks as her second most-viewed clip on that platform but has also experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to the Triller app, a feat underscored by it topping Billboard’s ‘Top Triller Songs’ charts in summer 2020 (click here to read more).
Kash adds her name to a lengthy list of female rappers who have earned one or more RIAA certifications this year including Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Mulatto, Doja Cat, and Saweetie.
