RIAA: Saweetie’s ‘Tap In’ Certified Gold

Published: Monday 2nd Nov 2020 by Rashad

Saweetie is making room on her wall for yet another plaque from the Recording Industry Association of America – all ahead of her debut album.

Details inside:

Nearly five months after its debut, ‘Tap In’ – Saweetie’s Dr. Luke-produced bop that heavily samples iconic Too $hort 2006 hit ‘Blow the Whistle’ – has been certified Gold by the RIAA, denoting sales equivalence of 500,000 in the United States.

Initially branded a flop for struggling to stay aboard the Hot 100 over the summer, a viral Tik Tok challenge and a star-studded remix featuring Post Malone, DaBaby, and Jack Harlow (click here to listen) remedied that concern and helped the song eventually soar to #20 on the hitlist (as we reported here).

Becoming her highest charting song to date, its ongoing success underscores the increased excitement surrounding her long-awaited debut album (of which ‘Tap’ acts as the lead single).
