As the music industry slowed down due to the impact of coronavirus (i.e. less direct fan engagement), many began seeking other avenues of income.  Once only associated with its adult content, OnlyFans – a popular Web-based subscription service – bust open its doors to creators whose contributions skewed less on the X-rated side.

Quickly proving itself to be a cash cow as hosts received payment directly from their fans via tips, pay-per-view options, and/or a rolling monthly subscription, many-a-singer or rapper began using the outlet to promote their musical ventures…among other things.

The site became so popular it even earned a shout out from Beyoncé in the remix to Megan Thee Stallion‘s ‘Savage.’
