New Song: Gwen Stefani – ‘Let Me Reintroduce Myself’

Published: Monday 7th Dec 2020 by Sam

Gwen Stefani is back!

The Pop chanteuse has unleashed new single ‘Let Me Reintroduce Myself’ and it’s a return to the sound many came to know and love from the star during her No Doubt days.

And she says it’s very intentional.

Speaking on the track, which she co-wrote with Ross Golan and Luke Niccolli, Stefani said:

“This song is a way of saying I’m back with new music. It’s a fun, lighthearted song, because I got inspired and hopefully to bring a little bit of joy.  The idea was to write a song that had a bit of a nostalgic feeling to it, so I think musically it reminds you of back in the day, going back to where I started musically which was with ska and reggae. I’m still the same me but here’s something a little bit new in case you feel like hearing a little bit more of me.”

‘Reintroduce Myself’ is the singer’s first traditional solo release in the near five years that have followed 2016 comeback album ‘This Is What The Truth Feels Like.’

During said time, Stefani has released holiday LP ‘You Make It Feel Like Christmas’ and has nabbed Country top 10 hits with boyfriend Blake Shelton (‘Nobody But You’ and ‘Happy Anywhere’).

Take a listen below…

A bop!

Having loved the ‘Rich Girl’s and ‘Let Me Blow Your Mind’s from yesteryear, this plays like what we’d hope a “Gwen Stefani” track would sound like in 2020.

Indeed, it’s a rich, creamy, maturation of her trademark sound and fits right in the thick of the contemporary climate. It also lays solid foundation to build a full length album around.

A return to form.

Why does it almost sound like it’s dragging? It’s too laid back for a song that aims to reintroduce Gwen Stefani as she was originally. The biggest singles from her first solo album were more exciting and more defining.
