Jazmine Sullivan celebrated the release of new EP ‘Heaux Tales’ with a rousing performance on Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.
Backed by a full band, the R&B belter delivered roof raising renditions of tracks from the project – including ‘Girl Like Me,’ ‘Bodies,’ ‘Lost One’ and ‘The Other Side.’
She also peppered in much loved bops such as ‘Let It Burn’ and
The new project serves as Sullivan’s first in five years, for it follows 2015’s ‘Reality Show.’

As a non fan, I enjoyed this performance. “Bodies” really came alive for me live. I listened to the EP, too, and like it. I could see it on repeat. Jazmine has talent in abundance but no “star power”, which might explain why she hasn’t broken from the pack. As others said, she must be doing alright for herself because she doesn’t seem pressed for fame or money. The collaboration with H.E.R. is a gem and may get me to actually purchase Heaux Tales. I hope it becomes a bonafide hit…
