The Weeknd scores again!
Ahead of his epic showing at Super Bowl LV on Sunday (February 7), the GRAMMY winner was already watching his latest ‘After Hours’ single – ‘Save Your Tears’ – make upward moves on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to the buzz built from its controversial accompanying music video.
Now, as the praise continues to roll in for the show-stopping performance at Tampa’s Raymond Jones Stadium (click here to watch), The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) has learned the song has cracked the chart’s top 10 for the first time!
Details inside:
Written and produced with Max Martin and Oscar Holter, ‘Tears’ is the fourth official single from Tesfaye’s blockbuster 2020 album, ‘After Hours.’ Following the era’s #1 hits – ‘Blinding Lights’ and ‘Heartless’ – ‘Tears’ landed at #8 this week and comes as the third top 10 hit launched from the LP.
Here are the numbers that supported the push into the chart territory.
- Streaming: 15 million streams
- Digital sales: 6,000 downloads
- Radio airplay: 28 million impressions
It should be noted the figures above do not include any boosts from the Super Bowl. But if the recently reported uptick in sales and streaming is anything to judge by, ‘Tears’ may track even higher on next week’s Hot 100.
Overall, ‘Tears’ marks the 12th time The Weeknd has visited the Hot 100’s top 10 over his career to date.
