This has to be the worst Super Bowl Halftime performance EVER in history, it had no flavour what so ever he was boring to watch and his singing was way off.
He picked all the right songs, I’ll give him that. Everything else I found lackluster 😑 You have all these dance ready songs and barely any choreography, and all the weird singing into the camera was annoying. He makes great music but unfortunately is just a boring performer. Zero showmanship.

Solid production and vocals
Given the limitations and issue with audio…he did what he was suppose to do. After this performance I really have a new found love for the weekend. Can we give it up for the fact that he is the ONLY male artist giving us artistry and actual art behind the music. Is approach to everything from visuals, to performance, to clothing…all is so thought out and I can appreciate that. No other male artist is doing this. Also I really forgot how many hits this man have.

@Meme. You’re giving him too much credit. Usher wore the blazer and MJ wore the jackets, gloves and dress shoes before The Weeknd. His red & black theme and horror elements all come from MJ’s Thriller era when he wore red/black with tapered pants. Even Bruno Mars performed in tapered pants and dress shoes before The Weeknd. Michael’s solo sound pre-90s can be heard all throughout The Weekend’s music.
He has a couple of bops, but he showed me why I can’t listen to a whole album of his. His one note whining pitch is an acquired taste. Not for me, but don’t knock him for trying

It was entertaining, but something was missing for me. Im a solid XO fan though.
For a start, the music should have been louder.
I would have wanted smoother transitions. Lady Gaga SB had perfect transitions and each track had its moment. The Weeknd music didnt feel synchronised.
I wanted more songs beyond just his pop hits. At least he gave us HOB
It didnt have enough shock factor. Knowing the Weeknd he could have gone way more hardcore seeing his visuals throughout his discography. PG I guess.
All in all it was an okay delivery. He should discover more of himself as a performer.

Love his discography and voice but still nowhere near as good as Bruno Mars, Beyonce, J.Lo, Shakira and Gaga’s performance. IMO he shoulda asked for some artist collabs to make his halftime show more exciting to watch

I don’t know, voice didn’t wow me, sounded nervous to me. I do not understand what 7 million went on? He has nothing on JLo & Shakira. Shakira made last year SB halftime show with the Arabian theme was amazing, really gave the bland folks something to ponder about.
The vocals were a bit :-/, but he has the hits. It was a cinematic experience. I enjoyed it.
The performance was not good because its foundation, THE MUSIC, isn’t good. His 80’s British synth pop redux makes for good background noise but has ZERO soul. He was much better musically as an indie artist. The performance of the night was HER’s “America the Beautiful”…
