Published: Saturday 13th Feb 2021 by Rashad

9 years after Whitney Houston‘s untimely passing, fans – including the generations of celebrity singers she influenced – continue to honor her incomparable legacy.

One of the more pronounced endeavors in that stead came Sunday (February 7) when GRAMMY-nominated diva Jazmine Sullivan took to Tampa to perform the U.S. National Anthem at the 2021 Super Bowl alongside Country music star Eric Church.

Still garnering praise for her soulful, soaring rendition of the historic tune, Sullivan took to ‘The Tamron Hall Show’ Friday (February 12) to reflect on the experience and dish on how Houston’s timeless take on the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ at Super Bowl XXV (1991) was an inspiration.

Look inside to hear her detail how her wardrobe and vocal arrangement were nods to ‘The Voice.’

So refreshing to have a “real human” succeeding nowadays , rather than a created character. Go Jazmine!!

She should not have accepted that gig. She did NOT need help from that white man. Was she not good enough to sing it alone? What message was the NFL trying to send? If I couldn’t sing it solo I wouldn’t have done it. Jay-Z is such a sellout.

Perhaps it was a way for two humans to show unity after such a devastating year, on thee most watched global stage. One black, one white. One a woman, one a man. Plus it was the first time in history two have performed it together at a Super Bowl. Plus she has an album to hawk. Why would she turn that down? Don’t be stupid!
