Jhené Aiko Fans Erupt After R&B Diva Snubbed at 2021 GRAMMYs

Published: Sunday 14th Mar 2021 by Rashad

Jhené Aiko had the comeback year many artists only dream about.

Counted out by many after the commercial failure of her sophomore album, 2017’s ‘Trip,’ the R&B diva bounced back better than ever with 2020’s ‘Chilombo’ – the year’s best-selling R&B project.

Spawning 4 Platinum singles in the process, the LP – thanks to a little help from its deluxe edition – also boasts becoming the beauty’s first Platinum-certified album in the United States, a measure that denotes sales equivalence of 1 million in the country.

With all those brag-worthy stats to its credit, fans and industry analysts alike were sure the LP would land at least one of the three GRAMMYs it was nominated for at the 2021 ceremony – especially after she hosted one of the event’s pre-shows.

Unfortunately, such was not the case.

Jhené entered this year’s GRAMMYs with three nods: Best Progressive R&B Album, Best R&B Performance, and Album of the Year.  After the first trophy went to Thundercat, Beyonce nabbed the second and Taylor Swift the third.

Alongside her previous three GRAMMY nods nabbed in 2015, the new set of losses leave Aiko as “6x GRAMMY-nominated” – a title her legion of fans don’t exactly appreciate.
