New details have emerged in regards to Pop Smoke‘s death.

According to the New York Daily News, LAPD Detective Carlos Camacho testified on May 7 that a 15-year-old was part of a group of intruders that wanted to steal the Brooklyn rapper’s Rolex. They stormed Smoke’s mansion and tried to take his Cuban link chain, but only got away with the diamond-studded watch, which they later resold for $2,000.
The alleged shooter is the youngest of the group and is now facing murder and robbery charges.
Camacho testified:
“He admitted that he shot the victim three times with a Baretta 9 [mm.]”
During a recorded jail interview, the teen allegedly “admitted that they asked for the jewelry” and then there was “a confrontation” with Pop Smoke.
Camacho said:
“They got into a fight, and he shot him three times. He said he shot him on the back.”
The group of invaders also allegedly threatened a woman who was with the rapper on the night of the incident.
Corey Walker, a fellow suspect in the case, has pleaded not guilty. It is unknown how the three other suspects will or have pled to the charges.

Pop Smoke death has been so disturbing to me since it was announced on the news. I started following him and his music right before he died. But to know that he was killed over a piece of jewelry that was sold for a few dollars more than a stimulus check makes me extremely angry and uneasy. The pit of my stomach has sunk.
