That Grape Juice Exclusive: DJ Ace Unveils This Week’s #SPOTLIGHT3 From #EverythingRNB

Published: Saturday 26th Jun 2021 by Sam

Here at That Grape Juice, we love all things R&B! So, fittingly, we’ve teamed up with DJ Ace – one of the UK’s most revered R&B connoisseurs and host of BBC 1Xtra‘s weekly series Everything RNB (which airs Sundays at 10pm).

Each week he’ll be rounding up his latest show and previewing what’s upcoming on the next episode. Right here on That Grape Juice.

Without further ado, check out the latest installment with DJ Ace below…

I’ve got another set of dope tracks that you definitely need to check out for this week’s #SPOTLIGHT3.

Snoh Aalegra – Lost You

This track is taken from her forthcoming album ‘Temporary Highs In The Violet Skies’, which is due to drop on July 9. We’ll be breaking down the entire album with Snoh on EverythingrRNB on the week of its release.

**************

Summer Banton – Don’t Make Me Feel

Summer is from South East London and also related to reggae legend Maxi Priest. Her new single is proof that musical talent runs in the family. She is most definitely one to watch!

**************

Nao – Messy Love

‘Messy Love’ is the new single from the Hackney-born singer. The track was produced by GRAMMY and Oscar award-winning produce  D Mile, (best known for his work with H.E.R., Lucky Daye, and Silk Sonic). A new album is on the way, and I’m looking forward to spinning that when it’s released.

**************

Make sure you hit me up and let me know what you think of my picks for #SPOTLIGHT3. I’ll be back on the radio for #EverythingRnB, this Sunday night at 10pm on BBC Radio 1xtra. This week I’ll be joined by the legendary Miss Mary J. Blige, as well as Vedo and an #RNB1TAKE from Iyamah.

Never heard of Snoh Aalegra. She..sounds EXACTLY like Alicia Keys. If I heard it on the radio, I’d think it was her.

Summer Banton looks like the actress who plays Shuri mixed with a younger version of the actress from Ma. PRETTY.

Nao has the most interesting voice I have heard in YEARS. I hear so many people in her! Michel’le, Kameelah Williams of 702 and Nicole Wray.

Last week I had the pleasure of being joined by the super producer and Hall of Fame songwriter Jermaine Dupri. We spoke about his classics with Mariah and Usher, him giving the world Jagged Edge and Xscape, the possibility of him doing VERZUZ, producing the new Anthony Hamilton record and so much more. Hamzaa also graced the show with her #RNB1TAKE. Click here to listen back to hear the full episode.

This Sunday on #EverythingRnB, I will be joined by Mancunian duo, Children of Zeus. The pair will be chopping it up about the release of their second album entitled ‘Balance’. Mereba will also be stopping by the show to discuss her new E.P ‘AZEB.’

As if this wasn’t enough dopeness for your ears, make sure you check out the ‘Story of Soul’ documentary on BBC Sounds.

We managed to document 60 years of Soul & R&B music into 6 hours of radio. Everything from Aretha Franklin to Ari Lennox, Smokey Robinson to Snoh Allegra, Motown to LVRN it’s all HERE.

This week’s #SPOTLIGHT3 tracks that I have had on repeat are:

1. Children of Zeus – 42 Long
One of my favorite tracks from their new album ‘Balance’ Super sexy slow jam.

2. La Shana Latrice – Let It Flow
The visuals for this are phenomenal!

3. Madison Paris – Notice Me (ft. Justin Love)
Absolute banger Produced by S^MPL.

Check them out and don’t forget to look out for next week’s #SPOTLIGHT3 here on That Grape Juice.
