Willow Smith is getting candid.
The ‘Transparent Soul’ singer sat down with Billboard to talk her upcoming album ‘Lately I Feel Everything,’ being Black in Rock music, and why now was the perfect time for her to go into the Rock genre.

On ‘Lately I Feel Everything’:
“It was me coming to a point where I just said ‘eff it’ and wanted to have fun. This album is the most I’ve let myself loose.”
On being Black in Rock:
“In the guitar world, it’s heavily dominated by white men and I just wanted to come in and f**k it up. I hope to see more women of color rocking out and playing guitar and bass, and I want to be their cheerleader. I want to be in their service.”
On why she chose to make a Rock album:
“I wanted to let other people of color know that we should be able to do whatever we want; we should be able to scream and growl and shred. And with the history of what we’ve had to endure in this country, I think that rock is a pretty perfect place to do that.”

Since when is she a rock musician. She’s about as rock as Ariana is r&b. She’s saying she wanted to get into rock music for everyone else but herself. She never said why she likes “rock” and it’s just cause it’s nostalgic and trendy. Her mom has a ton of heavy metal music that’s horrible but cool because she isn’t trying to be in style.
