Britney Spears‘ mom Lynne Spears is speaking out about her daughter’s conservatorship.
A week after her shocking testimony, the New Yorker published an exposé detailing how exactly the conservatorship came to be, which includes alleged words from Lynne.
Her words below…
“I got mixed feelings about everything. I don’t know what to think … It’s a lot of pain, a lot of worry.”
In the article by journalists Jia Tolentino and Pulitzer Prize winner Ronan Farrow, Lynne spoke about her daughter’s court dispute in a phone interview sometime in June. However, it remains unclear if it took place before or after Britney’s startling testimony.
Lynne goes on to decline to answer any questions about the dispute and says she may “hang up abruptly” if a family member were to come into the room. She added:
“I’m good. I’m good at deflecting.”
Lynne – who is divorced from Britney’s father Jamie Spears – previously supported her daughter’s efforts to remove Jamie as conservator.
According to the New York Times, Lynne made her case during a 2020 court hearing. At the hearing, she alleged that Jamie and Britney have a “toxic” relationship and it was “time to start fresh.” She also went on to claim that her ex-husband called the ‘Circus’ singer “a racehorse who has to be handled like one.”
On June 30, a judge denied Britney’s motion to have her father removed from her conservatorship (as we reported here). The next hearing in the case will take place on July 14.
