Earlier this month, August Alsina saw his debut album, 2014’s ‘Testimony,’ become his first album to reach Platinum status in the United States – a triumph that came just months after the album’s tracks, ‘No Love’ and ‘I Luv This Sh*t,’ became his first two singles to reach double Platinum status.
Despite those wins, which have been coupled with calls for new music from his diehard fans, the 29-year-old has indicated he’s not inspired to press forward with his music career.
Barely a year after his ill-fated third studio album, ‘State of Emergency,’ slipped out of the Billboard 200 after a 3-week tenancy (as we reported here), Alsina’s announced he’s set to vacate the music scene all together.

As seen above, August took to Instagram Monday (September 20) with a stunning announcement for his 6.6 million followers. While previewing new music in the clip, the post was accompanied with the caption:
“To all the loved 1’s who support me,” Alsina started. “These last couple projects are likely to be the last you see/hear of August Alsina. W/ that said, it is my hope that we can enjoy each other while I’m here, on my last victory lap around the sun. I’ll strive to make it as nostalgic as possible for you w/ beautiful times and high vibes. With great love, always. – AA.”
Although August may be hanging up his mic, fans will still get to see him in action in the coming months. As we previously reported, the ‘Kissin on My Tattoos’ star’s name was recently inked alongside Tamar Braxton, Dennis Rodman, and others for the reboot of ‘The Surreal Life.’
