Nearly a month after Britney Spears‘ father, Jamie Spears, announced intent to step down as the conservator of the Pop megastar’s estate, reports have surfaced he has officially begun the process.

Via court documents obtained by our friends at Entertainment Tonight, Jamie – after being slammed in a damning testimony from Britney that sent shockwaves throughout the industry – has not only filed paperwork to have himself removed as the head of her estate but also is putting wheels in motion to request the courts end the arrangement all together.

“Ms. Spears is now outspoken in her frustration with the level of control imposed by a conservatorship, and has pleaded with this Court to ‘let her have her life back,'” the docs state. “In recent months, she has attended two Court proceedings, has certainly made her wishes known about the conservatorship, and has asked this Court directly to end the conservatorship.”

Elsewhere in the official court doc, it says:

“As Mr. Spears has said again and again, all he wants is what is best for his daughter,” the docs state. “If Ms. Spears wants to terminate the conservatorship and believes that she can handle her own life, Mr. Spears believes that she should get that chance.”

The news comes just a week after Britney’s new lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, alleged Jamie was attempting to extort millions from the GRAMMY winner’s estate just to step down.
