Rihanna Officially Declared a National Hero in Barbados on 55th Independence Day

Rihanna has long waved the flag for her home country of Barbados ever since blazing onto the global music scene almost two decades ago.

Indeed, whether it’s her flavorsome bops, political outspokenness, or her philanthropical efforts, RiRi has always advocated for Barbados.

With the love long reciprocated, the country cemented its celebration of its homegrown icon by officially deeming her a National Hero.

Today, during an event saluting Barbados’ 55th Independence Day (from colonial rule), Prime Minister Mia Mottley bestowed the mogul with the prestigious honor.

The mogul was visibly emotional when presented with the title.
