The Predictions Are In! The Weeknd’s ‘Dawn FM’ Album Set to Sell…

Published: Monday 10th Jan 2022 by Sam

Upon the release of The Weeknd‘s new album ‘Dawn FM,’ the Pop crooner made clear to fans that he wasn’t fussed about sales.

And it’s a mindset that may serve him well.

Find out why below…

Hits Daily Double has lifted the lid on the first-week sales forecast for Abel’s Synth-Pop soaked LP and revealed that the set is on course to premiere with:

150,000-170,000
[Sales Plus Streaming]
********
11,000-14,000
[Pure Sales]

While placing the Pop star in contention for the top spot, the figure represents a steep decline from 2020’s ‘After Hours.’ Indeed, with the ‘Blinding Lights’ led set delivering a 444,000 debut, ‘Dawn DM’ is looking at a dip of 60%.

BUT…there are important caveats to consider.

‘Dawn,’ which was announced just days before its release, did not benefit from physical formats and was only available on digital streaming platforms and at digital retail.

As such, it’s entirely plausible that Team Abel is playing a long game, as it’s almost certain that CDs, vinyl, and other configurations are on the horizon. All of which could, in theory, gift the project legs in the weeks and months ahead.

That said, with last summer’s lead single ‘Take My Breath’ only managing a brief spell in the upper region of the charts, it’ll be vital for The Weeknd to establish hits (and quickly). Because, as of now, it’s not totally clear whether the dip is attributable to the lack of physical availability or whether it’s an indication of reduced interest.

Time will tell.

In the here and now, what are…

Your thoughts?

All his music sounds the same…No thanks, I’ll pass

Can we stop making excuses for our favourites? Beyonce launched an album as a surprise and smashed it pit the park. Saying “so and so just released an album a week after announcing it” isn’t a reason to warrant the downturn in someone’s sales. The Weekend should have had fever pitch for this album since he had one of if not the biggest selling songs of 2019 and big songs across 2020. He had high profile collabs, and featured his last album at Superbowl (something he didn’t deserve yet). He was overlooked (rightly so) by the Grammies and many contemporaries supported him and his ego over it. On paper, he should have met or exceeded the previous album.

Its highly like his next week numbers would be 100k or less. To be honest, not interested. Call a spade a spade

This was 10 years ago times have changed now ms bey can’t sell 200,000 first week

      • Danny Bey January 10, 2022

Bookmarking this so once B7 is released, you put that dusty foot in your raggedy mouth.

      • AJ January 11, 2022

Any other artist who comes off the back of an era as successful as his last with the amount of exposure he had would be deemed as flopping if they experienced the sales downturn Abel is about to turn in. My foot is neither dusty nor my mouth raggedy. You’re just twisted you can’t argue with the truth

      • UHoesFunny January 11, 2022

@Aj I think Danny Bey was actually taking up for you lol. He’s saying Bey will do good when B7 drops sis. Also he wasn’t referring to you 🥴 but I agree. She’s gonna say!

      • Danny Bey January 12, 2022

        @UHoesFunny

        Thanks you 😅

Very poor numbers for him but to be expected. Album drop came outta nowhere. Promo was nonexistent. Most don’t know he dropped a new album!!

  4. Hold on January 10, 2022

Let’s talk about the fact that he barely did any pure sales at all. That’s tragic for someone who did the super bowl last year. There are people less famous than him that do more than that.

    • J January 10, 2022

      No physical, did you read

      • Hidden January 10, 2022

It doesn’t matter. The only artists that sell that much physically is Adele and Taylor swift. Most of his sales come from streaming anyway. Nice try.

      • Fancy BISH (Back To The Future 🤣) 👊🏽💎💋 January 10, 2022

@Hidden, Adele didn’t even do OMG first week sales this time around, PERIOD 🤣 Oops, did I say that out loud lmaooooooooo 👀 And Drake and Taylor’s fan base are always good for a healthy first week sales throwback lol 💋 But truthfully, nobody is doing A MILLI first week, not even Miss Adkins 😂 839,000 is a FAR cry from 3.3 million…tell the WHOLE story if you’re running your mouth chile lmaooooooooo 📚 ☕️

      • Fancy BISH (Back To The Future 🤣) 👊🏽💎💋 January 10, 2022

@Hidden you need to get a life!

  5. J January 10, 2022

I’m trying to figure out when 170k was considered a flop when most artists can’t crack 50k first week anymore?

This is actually better than I expected TBH, I’ll be getting it on CD even though I HATE THE F****** COVER lol

    • Danny Bey January 12, 2022

Y’all loved calling ‘4’ a flop when it did only 310k after it was leaked.

  6. Pat January 10, 2022

Good numbers but with all his exposure seems like he’d be cracking over 200k at this point. He’s a single’s artist tho so this album should be around a while

  7. gatoraid January 10, 2022

his music sucks. his superbowl show was embarrassing. ya’ll stanning him like he’s the second coming of michael. byeeee queens back to your camilla cabello

  8. Clarks0o00ñ January 10, 2022

    • XYZ January 10, 2022

    • Monica Stan January 10, 2022

      • Clarks0o00ñ January 11, 2022

        “Mani sells more”

        What is m******-mani selling?
        😂😂

Only 1 solo song after going solo 5 years ago.
        😂😂

  9. Theman January 10, 2022

Digital sales are pure sales too. He should at least be doing about 50-75k in pure sales and at least 225 to 275k with sps being as though this was a very quick release. The 11-14k are pure digital sales only.

  10. Stormiscoming13 January 10, 2022

He is boring by now. Nothing new. Same generic sound. Stadium tours goodbye. He is over.

  11. Fancy BISH (Back To The Future 🤣) 👊🏽💎💋 January 10, 2022

I knew it would be haters in here *Gangsta Boo voice* 🤣 Y’all mad cause your faves aren’t coming CLOSE to The Weeknd’s songwriting prowess! 🖊 Next week just might coincide with another HUGE accomplishment 🌎 🤳🏽 Go troll your fave to make better music cause Flavor Abel doesn’t have THAT problem 👀 😂 Listen to 103.5 Dawn FM lol ❤️💋

    • AJ January 11, 2022

      Adele.

      * just gonna leave that one there *.

Leave the steaming pile of crap that is your comment there…

      • Fancy BISH (Back To The Future 🤣) 👊🏽💎💋 January 11, 2022

I prefer Abel over Adele lmaooooooooo 🤳🏽 You’re a hater and a lame *Gangsta Boo voice* 🤣💋

  12. DC3 FOREVER January 10, 2022

Issue is there was not enough time to be missed or build anticipation for new music. Blinding Lights still has heavy radio play and still on the billboard charts. There was no hype. On top of that the sound is still the same there was nothing new. Sorry able. Take a break

    • Fufu January 11, 2022

I agree. There was no anticipation. Dawn should have come out next year. After hours was successful because after Starboy he went into full ghost mode. Then popped back with BL which was so fresh at that time. Ever since he’s gone pop he thinks he’s now a pop diva who has to stay on limelight every 2 minutes. Dawn is good though.

  13. Monica Stan January 10, 2022

    KING keeps the f*** press💋

  14. Ouch!! January 10, 2022

Streaming numbers are great, but those pure sales are TRAGIC!!

  15. Farrah’s Luggage (8k Camila) January 10, 2022

    Only downhill from here Abel.
