Over the years, The City Girls have made clear their desire to collaborate with Rap Queen Nicki Minaj.
Name-dropping the diva on a number of occasions in interviews and elsewhere, fans of the Southern Rap duo – affectionately called #Citizens – have joined their faves in an informal petition to secure a feature from Minaj.
However, those requests have fallen on deaf ears and, courtesy of a recent interview with ‘The Morning Hustle,’ we now know the absence of a Minaj/City Girls duet is not incidental.

Minaj, hot on the promo trail in support of the February 4 drop of her new single ‘Do We Have a Problem,’ outlined her problem with the prospect of sharing a song with The City Girls.
“What I will say is that a few years ago, I saw a video of them and I asked someone on their team at that time, I asked someone about them. I was thinking about jumping on one of their records that was out at that time. And then social media happened…”
By “social media,” Nicki is referring to disparaging remarks the twosome reportedly made about her.
“If I was about to go out to dinner with you tonight and I then get something that says, ‘She don’t really f**k with you like that. She was saying this and she don’t really like you.’ … I’m not gonna go out to dinner with you anymore because now I know that I like you, but you don’t really like me,” she said. “That’s just a human way to feel if you hear somebody was saying things about you. Not just one thing, but repeated things for years.”
She later added, “Why would I work with somebody who doesn’t like me?”

The comments apparently made it to the desk of the Girls.
Shortly after the ‘Morning Hustle’ interview began making its rounds, Nicki took to Twitter to confirm she had cleared the air with the Quality Control pair.
Not only that, but the promise making ‘new memories’ sent #Citizens and Minaj fans (affectionately called #Barbz) into a frenzy with anticipation the acts’ long-awaited duet is forthcoming.

The City Girls are so fake. They turn on people overnight and they are opportunists, much like Nicki Minaj. The City Girls unfollowed Lil’ Kim on Instagram when Kim has done nothing but show them love. They unfollowed her when they were requesting a feature from Nicki Minaj. That is so fake. The City Girls have also turned on Cardi B so they can get a Nicki Minaj feature.
